AGN leadership tussle: Emeka Ike picks hole on court's ruling

Mr Emeka Ike, factional President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) says the incessant adjournment on the leadership tussle bedevilling the guild is becoming worrisome and unacceptable.
Ike told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the ruling of the Federal High Court Ikoyi Lagos, in the case between Maradona Johnson and Ibinabo Febarisima.

It will be recalled that Johnson, the National Treasurer of the guild had taken its leadership to court to stay action on the election of new executive until the determination of the court.
But the Segun Arinze led faction, which produced Faberisima went ahead to conduct the election without recourse to court judgment.

Ike however said that the subject matter which was before the court had been well defined; adding that orders were made by a court of competent jurisdiction, yet same order had been violated.
According to him, the beauty of democracy is the panacea it creates for the involvement of every citizen, and the involvement of the judiciary in resolving issues was the basis for any democratic society.

He said that Nigerian nation and its judicial arm had been faced with yet another litmus challenge for sustainability and reliability.
Ike said that all it demanded from the case was for justice to prevail, which according to him will stop the polarization of the guild and unite it for further contribution to the nation’s economy.
Attempt to speak with the Miss Ibinabo Faberisima, the factional President of AGN on phone was unsuccessful because she did not answer the call.

The election conducted by Mr Segun Arinse, immediate past President of the guild produced Faberisima as the President of the guild.

But the group loyal to Emeka Ike said that the election was a violation of court order, thereby seeing her election as illegal.
