CUSTOMS OFFICER CRUSHED TO DEATH IN IBADAN

A Customs officer who was formerly attached to the Oyo/Osun Area
Command of the Nigeria Customs Service was crushed to death a few
minutes to the New Year by a driver who lost control of his vehicle
around Samonda area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Another officer, Ena Nsed, was also injured in the accident.
Enyong Eyong Usang, who was recently transferred from the command to
Lilypong command in Lagos, came to Ibadan to celebrate with his family
when the tragedy happened.
Usang and Nsed were standing on the median after worshipping at the
Mountain of Fire Church in the area on New Year's eve, when they were
hit after the car's rear tyre burst on the motion.
Usang died on the spot while Nsed was rushed to the Emergency Unit of
the University College Hospital, Ibadan, for treatment. Usang's body
was deposited at the hospital mortuary.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested after the incident and is being
detained at the Sango police station with his car impounded.
