Anglican Archbishop Ignatius C.O°oO Kattey, and the Dean of the
Anglican Communion in Nigeria, who was kidnapped eight days ago by
unknown
gunmen was on Saturday night set free. Speaking to PMNEWS on phone,
Venerable Israel Omisioni, the Archdeacon of Eleme Archdeaconry of the
Anglican Communion of the Diocese Niger Delta North confirmed that the
Second in Command to the Primate suddenly walked into his compound at
Alode Eleme in Eleme local Government Area of Rivers State.
Kattey and his wife, Beatrice, were abducted September 6, at about
11.30pm around the Aleto bridge, Eleme in Eleme Local Government Area
of Rivers State. His wife was later
abandoned. Archbishop Kattey was supposed to host the Conference of
Standing Committee
of Province of Nigeria Anglican Communion at St Peters Deanery,
Yenagoa, where over 1000 Anglican faithful; Archbishops, Bishops and
other top hierarchy of over 20 million of Anglican faithful would take
decision that affects the well being of all Anglicans. It was learnt
that on the night he was kidnapped he had inspected St. Peters
Deanery, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, venue
of the conference. In the hierarchy of the Anglican Communion,
ArchBishop Kattey who
was made a Dean of Anglican Communion in Nigeria about a year ago, is
next to the Primate, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh.
