UNIZIK SELECTED AS ONE OF THE SENTINEL SITES FOR MALARIA VECTOR SURVEILLANCE IN NIGERIA

Following the recent National Malaria control program aimed at
establishing about eighteen sentinel sites in the country for malaria
vector surveillance, unizik has been selected as one of the sentinel
sites for malaria vector surveillance in Nigeria.

The proposed malaria sentinel sites will be institutionally based,
with out-station or field areas for routine data collection.

Also, Entomology Laboratory and insectary are...
expected to be
established in the university.

Furthermore, the national malaria programme also noted that it will
collaborate with UNIZIK to establish the smooth running of the
sentinel site for the malaria surveillance.

According to the National cordinator, Dr. Nnenna Ezeigwe, a lecturer
in the university Dr. Dennis Aribodor has been charged with the
responsibility of serving as a focal person for the sentinel site in
the University.
