a population density of above 50 thousand predominantly the locals and
students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. This rainy season has been
a hell of experience for the citizens living in this area of the
state, as steadied rainfall have taken over a greater part of the
roads and some streets around the "five decken" area of the town. This
awkward development leaves one to wonder why an administration, which
has prided itself of one of the best since the inception of Anambra
State, cannot adequately provide a good drainage system for the proper
passage of water and repair the damaged Ifite road. Anambra State has
been listed asone of the oil producing states, which by extension,
should propel the state government to upgrade the road network in the
state and make it more accessible. Anambra State generates about 400
to 500 million naira every month in IGR and receives approximately 2
to 5 billion naira in allocations. This leaves one to wonder why the
Ifite road will not be taken proper care of.
The story of the Ifite road is just a replica of the same situation in
some parts of Fegge and environs in Onitsha metropolis. The Ochanja
market road is gearing up for the worst. Hence in the light of these
decay in our road networks, the administration must take adequate care
to avoid the issue of flooding that plagued the state in 2012. They
must stop paying lip service in the implementation of government
policies and make concrete moves to secure the lives and properties of
well meaning citizens who are living in the Ifite area of Awka town in
Anambra State. They must repair the Ifite road and make adequate
provisions for the proper flow of rain water through the drainage
systems. And if this administration pays deaf ears to this clarion
call, let them not be surprised when the worst happens in the coming
weeks. In developing all sectors simultaneously, this administration
must not neglect the core basic dividends of democracy of which good
roads are a part of. Ifite roads and environs is gearing up for the
worst in the coming weeks. Should the government not act swiftly to
nip this damages in the bud, the natives may likely not be happy when
relief materials will be sent to them in empathy for their ravaged
lands and roads. Anambra State Govt. which way?
Have you made any report on this before castigating someone? We must support the government to serve us better.

ReplyDeleteVery well said but it shouldnt have come in a lambasting and criticising form since this is ur first time of bringing this to their notice. Diplomacy and guided tone of language plays a favourable role in politics. Lets pray Gov Peter Obi will respond swiftly to this environmental anomaly.
