TOUCH NO MAN'S CANDLE - MARTIN BECK NWORAH (MBN)

Two days ago, I bought two candles and lit them at once; placing them side by side. I didn't know what was wrong with me, but I knew somewhere in my heart, these candles had the perfect answers to my questions. I looked at them as they illuminated my space, shining into the darkness and making way for the light. All of a sudden, I got unreasonably angry at one candle and I puffed it off thinking that will help the other candle to shine more; and to itself, take all the glory of lighting up my space. It never happened.

What happened was a gradual reduction in the light and consequent darkness that enveloped my whole space because the only candle that was burning became worn out and tired. It needed a helper which in my annoyance and arrogance, I failed to provide.

In life, we have our different life's race to run. As Martin Beck Nworah, tarnishing your image or mentioning you in whatever I do will never make me succeed. Let me try hard at what I do while you give in your best at what you do. At the end of the day, let posterity decide who gave in the very best and who sacrificed the most to see that our world becomes a better place to live in. We don't always have all the figures to predict the way our life will go and that is why we must try not to hurt the wrong individuals in whatever we do. People are suffering and working hard to discover their purpose for living and I believe you must be toiling to discover yours too; pay attention to that and don't point fingers at people who have no interest in whether you live or die.

In this life's race, putting off my own candle will never make yours to shine brighter. Telling the whole world that a man is bad will not make you a good man; always keep that in mind. If you're good, be good and do not drag others to the mud as evidence of your goodness. We have enough personal battles to fight in this country. Being in school with no defined purpose, graduating without any focus, fighting hard to find a job and eking out a living in a hopeless society is enough worries to ground our minds. Don't make matters worse by touching the candle of another man.

If you are a good man; remain a good man!

Till we get to the Promised Land, I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.
