THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEM

Guys happy new month The square brothers who were believed to be quarrelling have openly denied that there was any rift between them and held that there was no fight at all between them. They made this known through their tweeter account. They credited the rumour about their splitting to bloggers who are always looking for what to right about them. This is the interview their spokesperson granted a reporter recently.  Greetings, Bayo, we heard that the Okoye brotherS have finally reconciled, can you give us an insight on what really happened? After a long laugh… My brother, I’m telling you this as a friend, there was no fight at all. The whole thing started after Jude tweeted some days back and bloggers feasted on it and gave it several interpretations which never existed, and that was how we got here.  Are you saying there wasn’t a fight at all, how then did Peter and Paul keep releasing comments through their Facebook accounts? My guy, I can authoritatively tell you that neither of the P-Square brothers, nor even Jude operate their Facebook accounts anymore. Whatever Facebook posted was from an impersonator, pretending to be anyone of them. P-Sqaure is active on twitter, not on facebook, so you see, the whole thing was founded on lies.  If what you are saying is true, why did they all tweet a reconciliatory tweet this morning indicating that they have mended fences? There’s one thing you should know, P-Square are not politicians, neither are they businessmen to be worried about what one useless blogger or the other has to say about them. In this game, bad publicity is good publicity. When we read those funny posts, we decided to play along with the general public and what they were meant to believe. Yesterday, Thursday, April 24, 2014 was Jude Okoye’s birthday and he also used the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend while we laughed at the stupidity of some Nigerian bloggers. We later decided to further play into their hands by reaching a consensus to tweet what they have termed the ‘reconciliation tweet’. However as a journalist, I am pained that trained journalists allow themselves to be remoted by Linda Ikeji, a mere blogger without any professional training to stall them from investigating serious news material like this. These days, immediately Linda posts anything on her blog, journalists just go there and copy and paste the story without any checks and balances, it is outrightly wrong, I’m really upset about this. She called me after posting the story and I just decided to ignore her calls, because I didn’t think we had anything more to say when the milk has been split. I have taken my time to explain to you this way because, you are a friend and did not join the bandwagon. As for those bloggers out there, I allowed them to write whatever they like; after all, they are consuming their Internet data, not mine. CULLED FROM LINDA POST

NATIONAL CONFAB

Delegates to the national conference were of the opinion that section 308 CFRN,1999 which provides for the immunity granted to the President,Vice president,Governors and Deputy Governors should be scrapped, what are your views about this? President Goodluck Jonathan's most recent political action showed that he is no longer comfortable with deceitful praises and verbal attacks on his critics. Sacking his political adviser Gulak is a step in the right direction though the action came later than expected. During his days in office as the presidential political adviser, Gulak delighted mostly in launching verbal attacks on critics of Mr. President instead of addressing issues raised by the critics. Mr. President must have understood that he did not deserve those deceitful praises as they are only digging grave for his political future. The President must have also understood that his critics are his real and true friends. I commend President Jonathan for this bold step and I do hope that he will extend it in eradicating the principles of Abatism and Okupeism in his government because no government will achieve leadership without constructive criticism. All Pro-Jonathanians should know that the best way to show love and support to the President is by telling him the truth no matter how bitter it may be. Any body telling the president that the country is in an encouraging and progressive state is never a true friend of the president rather such a person is been controlled by sentiments and the president should avoid such people. Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria!

LADIES: BEHOLD THY CLEAVAGE BY MARTIN BECK NWORAH

I'm a great fan of the female breasts and I don't hide it because its part of what inspires me. I'm a die hard fan. But with the way our young ladies show off their cleavages these days,I'm beginning to lose serious interest in the thing that once meant the whole world to me. Few months back,I was called up to tell an impromptu short story at a youths gathering because they knew it was MBN...he will surely have his way with words. Well I didn't on that day. Standing on the podium in front of the about Two hundred young people,I was counting more cleavages and exposed boobs than faces. Personally,I would've ignored it and continued with my story if I was paid for the gig but since I wasn't,I decided to do a freestyle with the ladies cleavages. Many laughed while others were totally ashamed and embarrassed. At the end of the session,a young lady approached me and said;"If its a joke, better stop it,don't make fun of females again". Seriously,I didn't hear all she said because my eyes were drawing inspiration from its natural source. Personally,I have no problem with going naked on the streets. It's your body and your life, you can burn it if you so wish. My only concern is with people around you and the little ones who look up to their auntie. Rape cases is on the increase everyday in this country and I'm of the school of thought that believes that if less skin is shown, less rape cases will abound. But will our ladies listen? I don't know. Two ladies just returned from "ashebi" now and passed me;their cleavages was on full display. I may pardon them because they are due for marriage so maybe,it's a way of selling their market. Truly, what we need in this nation in terms of moral is not those that worship God in spirit and tithe. We also need ladies who will worship him by showing less skin and saving many men from raping our little girls or masturbatiing...or even raping their fellow man if no eve is near to help salvage the situation. The female body is very much beautiful and I thank God for the gift of boobs. Truly, there's nothing more inspiring than those two wonderfully shaped natural milk factories. For those their own have become fried eggs, accept my humble sympathy. To our young girls learning to show us their cleavages, please stop. For those already doing it,have a change of heart. For those not planning on stopping it anytime soon, bear in mind that once olympus falls,it won't stand again. Till we get to the Promised Land,I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

THE EVILS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

People who spend more time on social networking sites, according to growing evidence, report more conflict in their relationships and are more likely to break up, often citing Facebook or Twitter as part of the problem. The findings are as new as the medium, making it still unclear what's causing what. For now, experts say, it's worth exercising caution when posting, searching and browsing online — even if you're not necessarily seeking out gossip. "If you're looking through your news feed and you see stuff related to your partner and you find out that an attractive person you don't know is posting likes or comments on your partner's photos, you might start wondering, 'Who is this person?'" says Tara Marshall, a psychologist at Brunel University in London. "That can be a huge catalyst for jealousy for certain individuals." "Before social media, if you wanted to find information about ex-partners or new partners, you had to do more digging with higher risk strategies," she ads. "You had to trail them or engineer situations to bump into them. It was much more effortful. Now, having Facebook, which is anonymous and free, it's much easier to track people." The Internet has sparked many romances by offering an explosion in opportunities for social interaction, and social networking sites have been a boon for relationships in many ways. Making the dramatic switch from "single" to "in a relationship," for example, can make people feel more secure in new relationships. Even a little cyber stalking can reassure new lovers that there is nothing obvious to worry about. But the public nature of social networking sites also makes them a potential breeding ground for jealousy and mistrust. Jealousy and mistrust A 2011 survey found that Facebook was cited in as many as a third of divorce filings, often mentioning inappropriate messages to other friends or mean posts and comments. And in a study published in 2010, more than 80 per cent of attorneys surveyed by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers said that they had noticed a rise in the use of social networking evidence in divorce trials over the previous five years. More than a billion people actively use Facebook every month and Twitter has more than 550 million active users, making these kinds of sites an intriguing new frontier for relationship researchers. Increasingly, studies are starting to link social media activity with negative romantic consequences. Marshall's research has shown, for example, that people who spend lots of time analyzing a partner's Facebook page report greater feelings of jealousy and mistrust. Other studies show that people who linger on the pages of their exes end up having a harder time getting over ended relationships. It's not yet clear whether people who are already jealous or heartbroken are more likely to engage in this kind of Facebook surveillance or if being an active Facebook user directly causes those feelings. Causing romantic harm But other studies contribute to the possibility that excessive social media use can cause romantic harm. One study, published in 2011, found that undergraduates who spent so much time on Facebook that it intruded on their relationships reported being more dissatisfied in those relationships. Partners can end up feeling neglected, ignored, and concerned about why the people they're with seem more excited about their virtual lives than their real ones. After surveying about 200 people, researchers reported last year in the journal Cyber psychology, Behavior and Social Networking that the most active Facebook users experienced the greatest number of Facebook-related conflicts — such as adding former romantic partners as friends or spending too time on Facebook at the expense of time together. And people who reported the most Facebook-related conflicts were more likely to end up cheating, breaking up or getting divorced. The findings only held for people who had been together for three years or less, suggesting that new relationships are the most vulnerable to Facebook intrusions. The same group of researchers recently reported similar results in the same journal after surveying of more than 500 Twitter users. People who were more active on Twitter reported more Twitter-related conflicts and more negative relationship outcomes as a result. "It's kind of like the old adage that if you do anything too much it's going to have implications," says Russell Clayton, of the University of Missouri, Columbia, who co-authored both studies. "I personally think Facebook and Twitter are great. But if you are experiencing Twitter-related conflict, you should probably reduce the amount of time you spend on it." Marshall also urges privacy and cautiousness. "Be careful what you post on Facebook and Twitter and if you are concerned about something coming back to haunt you, err on the side of not writing anything at all," she says. "And don't fall into the trap of digging around for information about your ex-partners. It can be very addictive. Just leave it."

UPDATE ON CONFAB

2014 NATIONAL CONFERENCE PRESS RELEASE APRIL 28, 2014 Conference Committee drops State Police; adjourns decision on mining legislation Arguments upon arguments; motions upon motions is what can best describe the process that led to another adjournment on Monday of deliberation on whether legislation on mining of mineral resources should remain the exclusive right of the Federal Government. Another crucial issue, shot down by the Committee on Devolution of Power after a lengthened argument, was for the establishment of State Police. While delegates from the south were favourably disposed to it, those from the north were apprehensive that politicians would subject it to abuse. It died on the floor. For more than two hours, the debate on mining lingered, as members battled to resolve the impasse, which was basically whether state governments should have a say in mining of natural minerals. The house was divided along regional lines as a section wanted the status quo as contained in the 1999 Constitution sustained; and others from the other section wanted an insertion that state governments should be involved in the mining industry. On Thursday last week, the Committee Co-Chairman, Obong Victor Attah, in the midst a heated argument, had advised Committee members to make their written submissions available on Monday stating how Item 39 in the Exclusive List could be amended for state participation in the mining business. Attah’s absence at the Committee sitting on Monday turned the table on the issue. While some delegates insisted that the matter be put to vote in the absence of a consensus, others settled for further negotiation for a consensus. Retired Inspector General of Police and Co-Chairman of the Committee, Ibrahim Coomasie, who presided, had drawn the attention of the Committee to the fact that the issue was undecided at the close of session on Thursday and should therefore be sorted out immediately. Retired Lt. General Jeremiah Useni opened discussions on the matter as soon as the session opened on Monday, when he moved a motion that the issue be left the way it is in the Constitution. He received instant support from delegates, particularly those from the north. However, former Minister, Professor A. B. C. Nwosu, quickly cautioned that Item 39 on the Exclusive List was a contentious issue that could trigger crisis in some parts of the country depending on how it was handled by the Committee. He said that from the days of Adaka Isaac Boro who launched the first bloody revolution in Nigerian history, till today, the twin issues of who controls mining activities and environmental matters have always been controversial. Nwosu noted that an amicable consensus could be reached on the issue depending on how it was handled, “but if we bully our way through on this matter, one way or the other, we may end up continuously promoting militancy in the affected areas.” Haruna Yerima from Borno State was of the opinion that the issue be put to vote since, according to him, it was clear that reaching a consensus would be impossible. Buba Galadima informed the Committee that a quorum had been formed and that the matter should be put to vote without further argument as the Committee still had other issues to discuss. Adeniyi Akintola, SAN, however objected. He cited certain sections of the Standing Rules of the Conference which allow for further consultation on issues that could not be decided on consensus at the first instance. Professor Eddy Erhagbe said the two seemingly incompatible positions were capable of tearing the meeting apart and suggested an amendment which he believed could satisfy the two sides; by adding the clause “provided that government of the state where the mining activities take place is involved.” Although other arguments followed immediately, both Nwosu and Sanusi Haruna suggested that the amendment proposed by Erhagbe be looked into and possibly adopted in the interest of peace. Bashir Dalhatu stoutly opposed suggestions by Chief Dozie Ikedife and Professor Nsongurua Udombana that the matter be stood own until written submissions agreed upon last Thursday be made available for amicable resolution of the argument. Dalhatu argued that submission of written positions by members would only reflect the trend of arguments that had been heard already, adding, “We can adjourn for 15 minutes for consultation, but we have to vote.” Junaid Mohammed supported the position with a declaration that the matter must not be returned to the plenary undecided. He insisted on a vote being taken immediately. A suggestion by former Deputy President of the Senate, Ibrahim Mantu, that there was need for adjournment in view of the rising tempers, was supported by Akintola. Hoever, just as Akintola finished talking, Useni, who moved the initial motion, repeated his motion and insisted on a vote being taken. Shortly after another support by Chief Ayo Adebanjo to Mantu’s suggestion, the co-chairman ruled in favour of adjournment till Tuesday to enable members submit their positions in writing for a consensus. When the issue of State Police came up for debate, the same fervour witnessed in the previous debate surfaced as delegates tackled each other. Udombana told the Committee that if the issue of devolution of power must be a reality, then there was no replacement to State Police, adding that the issue of abuse would be taken care of by laws. Dalhatu was emphatic that Nigeria is not yet ready for State Police as the level of abuse by politicians would be too high, adding, “I don’t think we are yet ready in this country for State Police.” Adebanjo and Tony Adefuye were of the view that with the establishment of State Police, most of the crisis that have rocked the country would always be chased away at the roots. According to Adebanjo, the issue of Nigerian factor should not be brought into every discussion because, “if we have all agreed on going federal, why should we disagree on issues associated with federalism. We should not concentrate police power at the federal level only, it is un-federalism.” It was his view that the issue of Boko Haram would have been dealt with at the roots if Nigeria operated a state police system like other countries of the world and pleaded that in the interest of Nigeria, the constitution and federalism, State Police should be placed on the Concurrent List. Akintola informed the Committee that the issue of State Police should not be compelling on individual states; and that any state that desires it should be allowed to adopt it because the Conference cannot be talking about devolution of power while it throws away the ingredients that support devolution of power. Magaji Dambatta in his contribution said introduction of State Police would amount to legalizing intimidation of political opponents by sitting governors; adding that “our environment is not yet ripe enough for State Police.” After another contribution by a retired police officer, Farouk Usman, the matter was put to vote and with a majority voice, it was retained in the Exclusive List. However, a few items were moved from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List on Monday. They included public holidays; railways, and essential commodities while a new item, Information and Communication Technology, introduced by Udombana, was added to the Exclusive List. Meanwhile, the Nigerian military on Monday explained what some see as maladministration in the military. It followed the submission by the chairman of the National Security Sub-Committee on Defence Infrastructure, retired Brig.Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali in that direction. Col G. O. Anyamelechi, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff, said that the total subordination of the military to the civil authority was never in doubt and that there was nothing to the allegation of existing friction between the Service Chiefs and the Minister of Defence. He said promotions in the military were guided by the provisions of the Harmonised Terms and Conditions of Service for Officers and Men; and that for a senior officer to be eligible for promotion, he must satisfy certain conditions. Anyamelechi informed the delegates that while the issue of Federal Character is adhered to at point of entry to the military, as commissioned officers grow in rank, they are required to scale various hurdles in order to be eligible for promotion. This, he said, meant that as officers keep going up, the issue of Federal Character becomes less significant while emphasis shifts to merits and that this accounted to what may seem like an uneven representation at the top amongst the six geo-political zones. On the alleged failure of counter-terrorism measures adopted by the armed forces, he said the allegation was regrettable, “especially coming from a source that is in a better position to appreciate the complexity of asymmetric warfare.” Anyemelechi said allegations of maladministration in the armed forces could have far-reaching implications on the general administration of the armed forces and by extension, national security, particularly as no specifics were given to substantiate the allegation. The Chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Dr. Sam Amadi was at the meeting of the Energy Committee where he briefed members on the state of power supply and generation in the country. While doing so, a member of the committee, Chief Richard Akinjide said Nigeria will be better served with alternative sources of energy, especially clean energy such as solar, water , sun and coal; but Amadi insisted that Nigeria is not ripe for renewable energy. The Minister of Solid Mineral Resources is expected to appear before the committee tomorrow to brief delegates on power generation through coal and uranium. The Committee on Foreign Policy and Diaspora Matters had an interface with the Director General of the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Prof. Bola Akinterinwa. Committee members harped on the need for synergy among NIIA, the Presidential Advisory Council on Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Committee on Religion proposed a Religion Equity Commission that will handle all religion related issues in the country, while also proposing that government should stop the sponsorship of pilgrimage and any public funding of religious activities. The Committee on Citizenship, Immigration and Related Matters was more concerned about the nation's porous borders. Members were of the opinion that if the borders are effectively manned, the rate of violence attacks would be minimized. The Sub-committee on Census presented its report. It lamented the lack of national integrated data base and politicization of census figure. It therefore suggested a National Integrated Data Base that would involve the National Communication Commission (NCC) and the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), as well as involving traditional rulers and all levels of governments in generating the data. It also proposed the enactment of laws to criminalize any census official who inflates census figures; also the use of national identity cards as voters’ card as well as advocating that all landed property should be registered with the names and identity of their owners. The Committee on Economy Trade and Investment played host to the Executive Secretary of Nigeria Investment and Promotion Commission (NIPC) who briefed the committee on investment opportunities in the country and the bottlenecks investors face. A member of the committee, Professor Ajakaye, also gave a brief lecture on steps Nigeria needed to take to join the league of industrialized nations. He advocated the development of core industries, the establishment of a development bank, the rehabilitation of major roads, modernization of the rail system and enhancing efficiency in the power sector. He also said localized opportunities in the power sector as well as growing of new enterprises are catalysts for economic growth. Signed AKPANDEM JAMES ASSISTANT SECRETARY, MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS

POPE JOHN POPE HAS BEEN MADE A SAINT

Pope Francis has declared Popes John Paul II and John XXIII saints, in front of a crowd of hundreds of thousands. He praised his two predecessors as "men of courage" at the Vatican service, the first time in history that two popes have been canonised at the same time. The Mass was attended by Pope Emeritus Benedict, who quit as pope last year, and roughly 100 foreign delegations. Analysts say Francis is trying to balance the conservative legacy of John Paul with the reforming zeal of John. At the climax of the service, Pope Francis said in Latin: "We declare and define Blessed John XXIII and John Paul II to be saints and we enrol them among the saints, decreeing that they are to be venerated as such by the whole Church." Relics of each man - a container of blood from John Paul and a piece of skin from John - were placed near the altar. Pope Francis paid tribute to the two new saints as "priests, bishops and popes of the 20th Century". "They lived through the tragic events of that century, but they were not overwhelmed by them. For them, God was more powerful," he said. The Vatican estimated some 800,000 pilgrims had poured into Rome to see the two-hour ceremony first-hand. For those unable to make it into St Peter's Square, giant screens were set up in nearby streets and elsewhere in the city. "Four popes in one ceremony is a fantastic thing to see and to be at, because it is history being written in our sight," said Polish pilgrim Dawid Halfar. Giant portraits of the two popes flanked Francis as he celebrated Mass

Man city is regarded by every body as the favorites after the disgraceful defeat of Liverpool at home by the Blues.Mancity are at the third position with 77 points from 35 games.

UK AND USA ARE NOW INVOLVED IN THE SEARCH FOR THE ABDUCTED SCHOOL GIRLS

Britain and the United States of America have joined the search for the 234 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, by the Boko Haram sect, SUNDAY PUNCH can authoritatively report. The girls were kidnapped in their hostel on April 14 after members of the sect, pretending to be soldiers, lured the pupils away from their hostel before setting it ablaze. About 30 of the girls escaped from captivity while about a dozen, who fled into the bush when the sect attacked the school, have since returned to the school. The military had initially claimed that it had rescued all but 18 of the girls but the school principal, Asabe Kwabura, debunked the statement.

UPDATE ON PSQUARE CASE

The brouhaha about the P-Square group is gradually fading since the brothers, including their elder brother, Jude, have refused to say anything concerning it. Although a lot of speculations have been made on the issue especially the most likely reason the twins and their brother would split, most Nigerians are against them parting ways. Peter on his Facebook wall wrote what appeared to be a message that normalcy would soon be restored to their family. He wrote, “After the storm comes the calm; I am hoping for better days ahead as one family. God’s intervention.” But the message is still as cryptic as their elder brother’s ‘break-up’ tweet. When contacted on the telephone to shed more light on his message, Peter’s number was switched off. Jude didn’t pick his phone neither did he reply the text message sent to him to shed more light on what is happening in the family. Granted some people claim that all have not been well in the household, some people also believe the whole ruckus is actually a publicity stunt aimed at drawing attention to the singing duo. However, their publicist, Bayo Adetu, told Saturday Beats that the Okoye family was not ready to talk and that when the time comes, they would open up. “The family does not want to talk now. When the time is right, they would voice out and let everyone know what is happening. As for now, they just want to be left alone,” he said.

WORLD IS HARSH I KNOW BY MARTIN BECK NWORAH

WORLD IS HARSH I KNOW BY MARTIN BECK NWORAH.                               We work hard everyday trying our best to make ends meet. We wake up very early in the morning and go to bed very late with little or no food. We work so hard to eke out a living and survive in this world but it seems our efforts don't count. We cry. We work. We toil. Nobody seems to be paying attention or looking towards us. Nobody notices our hard work or dedication to duty. People insult us and call us names because they feel we're the reason for our own failure. They may be right or wrong. The world is harsh I know, but we never stop working. We pray hard and seek for divine intervention in our life. We have been from one prayer house to another crying and begging God to intervene. Our mates laugh us to scorn, but don't forget; people are generally more interested in stories about people rather than things. It seems God is no longer God. We regret ever praying to Him or paying our tithe in the church. We detest our life and question the very essence of our creation(that's if we know the essence anyway). Our prayers don't count because we feel God is no longer interested whether we live or die. In our hearts of heart,we trusted him but he failed us. We may be right or wrong. The world is harsh I know, but we will never stop praying. We have repeatedly placed our hope on people and they failed us. Many have authoritatively told us that their late great grand father and the president were classmates,so we shouldn't worry..."Employment na our own". We believed him with every sense of commitment and even gave him our body. We used our last 'card' and had some good time with friends in celebration of our new job. We may be stupid or not. But we sincerely hoped it will click. It didn't. We continued to hope on hopeless hope and nothing happens in our life. People make promises to us but every now and then, they turn us down when we most likely needed them to fulfil their promises in our life. It hurts I know. Many will brand us as a hopeless "hope-nothing" and a shear expression of enthusiastic nothingness. They may be right or wrong. The world is harsh I know, but we will never stop hoping. We trusted our best friend with a secret that our life hangs on. We might have been stupid to trust in such a true best friend. Maybe yes or no. The secret was a secret till the best moment of our life came around. From the blues, the best friend stabs our secret right into our heart and destroys our home, family, career and everything we've ever worked for. We trusted him so much to pay back and we loaned him money off the books. After all,he is our "guy". Our guy runs away and reveals to our boss that we stole money from the company's account. We trusted...we were stabbed. We have a severe depressed personality and always need someone to confide in. We trusted him/her to keep our secrets. We confided in the individual and we felt better. Our life was moving on the smooth lane and we were progressing. He/She appears from the blues(these Chelsea fans),and tells everyone our secrets. People will call us stupid and foolish for telling someone our secrets. They don't know our history or what we've been through. They simply don't know our story. They may be right or wrong. The world is harsh I know, but we will never stop trusting. My name is Martin Beck Nworah and I know. I try my best to write anything that comes to my head and hope it helps us to live a better life. I read many books and try my best to focus in life. I don't party, drink, smoke, club, flirt, fling or have any negative deviant attitude(rubbish,bros...your life is boring joor). I continue to work, pray, hope, study and trust that our Nigeria will be better for my generation. The future seems dark and holds no light for us. But I still believe. I am confident that Nigeria will wake up and be the true giant of Africa both on papers and in terms of development. I know in the nearest future, vending machines will be positioned in our streets and nobody will try to steal the drinks without inserting a coin. I believe in my Nigeria. The world is harsh I know, but we will never stop working, praying, trusting and believing. Till we get to the Promised Land,I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

Real Madrid draws close to Final

A solitary strike from Karim Benzema was enough to give Real Madrid a 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final. The France international poked home Fabio Coentrao's cross in the first half for the only goal of the game to inflict only a second defeat in the competition for Pep Guardiola's side, and his first as a coach at Santiago Bernabeu. Bayern bossed possession but failed to create many meaningful chances, and Madrid could have won more comfortably had Cristiano Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria kept their composure with clear openings in the first 45 minutes. Despite a fast-paced opening, chances were scarce early on, with neither Ronaldo - who was risked despite his recent hamstring injury - nor his team-mates able to threaten Manuel Neuer. Bayern also struggled to forge openings, until Arjen Robben flashed an effort wide of Iker Casillas' right-hand post after 13 minutes. Toni Kroos' shot was then blocked by Pepe before Real broke at pace, allowing Ronaldo to find Fabio Coentrao down the left with a brilliant pass.

GEJ hails Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday commended a former Head of State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for what he called his very statesman-like views on  terrorism and insecurity in Nigeria as expressed in his article, which was published by the media over the past two days. The commendation was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, made available to journalists in Abuja. Abati quoted the President as saying that he believed that the position taken by Buhari was that of a true patriot, respected former Head of State, revered elder statesman and nationalist. The President further assured Buhari, a chief of the All Progressives Congress, of his preparedness to work with him and all other patriotic Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliation to end terrorism in the country. The statement read, “The President welcomes General Buhari’s call on all Nigerians to remain steadfast and work in unity to overcome terrorists and other merchants of death who currently threaten national security. “President Jonathan fully shares General Buhari’s view that a minority must never be allowed to ‘bring the nation to its knees through terror.’ “He has noted General Buhari’s recommendation that the nation’s counter-terrorism strategies be further fine-tuned and welcomes his kind offer of support and co-operation in dealing with the challenge of terrorism. “The President assures General Buhari of his Administration’s sincere commitment and dedication to the successful prosecution of the fight against terrorism and all other threats to national security. “He further assures the General of his preparedness to work with him and all other patriotic Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to strengthen national security and end the scourge of terrorism.”

Cech out when Chelsea held ATM to a goalless draw

The 31-year-old left the field in obvious pain after a collision with Rojiblancos midfielder Raul Garcia. Petr Cech was forced off with a rib injury during Chelsea's Champions League semifinal first-leg clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. The 31-year-old goalkeeper suffered a nasty fall 15 minutes into the game at the Vicente Calderon, after having his feet accidentally taken away from him by the stumbling Raul Garcia, and required lengthy treatment on the pitch before being replaced by Mark Schwarzer. Cech had only returned to Chelsea's starting side after missing Saturday's Premier League defeat at home to Sunderland because of a virus. The shot stopper's availability for Sunday's clash with English title rival Liverpool at Anfield is now in doubt. Meanwhile, on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also started the first leg at the Vicente Calderon. Chelsea held Atletico Madrid to a goalless draw.

The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role."

More Than Sisters

I was bored today by some stuffs until I bumped on this recently produced movie  which practically changed my day.
More Than A Sister The love between Nora and Samantha transcends from friendship to sisterhood. Their unshaken affection for each other was put to test by the existence of a man; Abbey. Nora met Abbey and they both promised to get married if fate brings them together again. As fair as fate is, they met again but unluckily for the waiting Nora, their re-union was under an unpleasant situation whereby Abbey is introduced to her as the Fiancée of her sister, Samantha. It now seems like an horizontal line has been changed to a love triangle. Cast: Stella Damascus Aboderin Director: Unknown Runtime: 01:25:25 Year: 2014

Al shaabab Aided Boko haram In the Abuja Bombing

There are strong indications that members of the Somalia militant sect, Al-Shabab, aided Boko Haram militants in carrying out the attack on Nyanya Motor Park seven days ago. The PUNCH’s investigations on Sunday also revealed that Al-Shabab, which has strong links with Al-Qaeda, had moved from providing technical assistance to Boko Haram to fighting alongside insurgents in some parts of the North-East. It was gathered that security agencies received intelligence reports that Al-Shabab, which carried out the West Gate Mall attack in Kenya, was planning an attack in Abuja. A top   military source, who confided in one of our correspondents, said the information was received two weeks before the March 31, 2014 attempted jailbreak at the Yellow House headquarters of the Department of State Security Service in Abuja. Investigations revealed that operatives were still trying to verify the claim that the jailbreak might be an Al-Shabab’s idea when the Nyanya Park blast occurred. Our source said, “We received the information two weeks before the attempted jailbreak at the headquarters of the Department of State Services in Abuja. “What we got was that those who carried out the Kenyan Mall attack were up to something in Abuja. “So when the jailbreak at the SSS occurred, we thought that could be their mission to the country. “What happened on Monday last week seems to suggest that they had a hand in it because we had the information two weeks before that foiled jailbreak.” Another security source, who also spoke with The PUNCH on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to do so, said   that   Nigerian soldiers, during some of their operations against Boko Haram, had killed some foreigners suspected to be members of Al-Shabab. He said that “the support of Al-Shabab and Al-Qaeda for Boko Haram, until recently, was initially restricted to providing technical assistance such as training as well as arms and ammunition.” The source stated that the revelations were considered interesting by the military since they would aid   in planning for future operations. He said, “All along, we had been suspecting the hand of international terror organisations in the fight; most of the patterns of these attacks indicated their involvement. “This could be a confirmation; it could be an interesting confirmation which will help in our subsequent approach to the strategy of managing this issue. “I can confirm to you that several of such foreigners with strange features have been killed.” The United Kingdom Daily Star had  quoted security sources as saying last  Tuesday that a British-born Al-Shabab operative, Samantha Lewthwaite, might have had a hand in  the Nyanya attack to avenge the killing of Al-Shabab’s terror leader, Makaburi (aka Sheikh Abubakar   Ahmed), a fortnight ago by  the Kenyan Anti-terror Police Unit. Makaburi said to belong to the top hierarchy of the terror organisation, was believed to be the one who introduced Lewthwaite   to the leadership of Al-Shabab. It was reported that the top terror suspect  whose husband, Germain Lindsay, carried out the bombing of a London tube train that killed    56  people   in 2005   wanted revenge for the killing of Makaburi. “The white widow wanted revenge for the killing of her mentor, terror chief Sheikh   Ahmed,” a security source was quoted as having said. The woman, said to be on the run in Africa with three children since January 2012, is one of the most wanted persons on Interpol’s list. She is wanted in relation with seven murders and the attack on the West Gate Shopping Mall   which resulted in the death of 67 people last year. Boko Haram had boasted that it was merging with al-Shabab and Al-Qaeda, to form an impregnable terror network. The United States Africom Commander, Gen. Carter Ham, was quoted as saying that terror groups like Boko Haram, al-Shabab and al-Qaeda were joining forces to carry out coordinated attacks on Africa. The groups were said to be sharing funds, explosives and having training sessions. Although the SSS, said it was not aware of Lewthwaite’s involvement in the Nyanya attack, it added that it would welcome any information that could assist security agencies to fish out the perpetrators. Its Deputy Director, Public Relations, SSS, Marilyn Ogar,  said, “I am not aware of the woman’s involvement in the blast; but we welcome every genuine information and tips that could assist security agencies to apprehend  those behind it.” Reacting to the belief that al-Shabab was fighting along with Boko Haram, a former Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Tsav, said such would compound the crisis in Nigeria. He advised that such collaboration should not be treated with levity. Tsav, who lamented the inability of the military to tame the terrorists, lamented that Boko Haram had “grown from strength to strength” despite the military campaigns against it. He said,”If it is true that a foreign terrorist group is collaborating with Boko Haram to attack Nigeria, such a partnership will compound our problems because the government has not taken effective action against Boko Haram.”

BROS/ SIS......E DEY OK BY MARTIN BECK NWORAH

The world is not always filled with enemies and people who want to run you down. It's okay to feel weak. You're human and no one expects you to be perfect. I expect you to break down and cry when you're hurt. I expect you to be angry and burst into a fist of rage when people annoy you beyond your limits. It is okay to reach out for help and talk to the people in your life about your problems. For hell's sake, don't act the superman. YOU'RE NOT ONE! Our world of pretence has made many of us to build up defences and put up barriers that are just unreasonable. The world is not as wicked as the media wants to make us believe. There are still good people who will share with you and help you out. You're human and part of our being human is our weaknesses. Its part of our uniqueness and denying that would mean claiming the supernatural. Nobody is strong enough to carry the weight of the world alone. You will gradually die inside. Reach out to people in your life. People you can trust. People commit suicide and we often ask,"why did this individual have to commit suicide? I thought she was strong enough?" Rubbish! I'm not strong enough to blind my eyes from reaching out for help when I can't help myself. IT IS OKAY TO BE WEAK! It is not a sin. Never hold up your emotions and die inside because of what the outside world will say. There is always a way. Reach out today. Till we get to the Promised Land,I shall be waiting for when you will pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the race.

Chelsea Beaten

Fabio Borini scored a late penalty as bottom-side Sunderland beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to dent the Blues’ title hopes. Samuel Eto’o put the home side ahead ahead on 12 minutes when volleying home Willian’s corner from the left. But Connor Wickham – who scored a brace in Sunderland’s midweek draw with Man City – levelled six minutes later when slotting home from close range after Mark Schwarzer could only parry Marcos Alonso’s long range effort from a corner. Ramires looked lucky to stay on the field after appearing to catch Seb Larsson with an elbow, and the Black Cats won the game with eight minutes remaining after a penalty was awarded when subsitute Jozy Altidore went down under a challenge by Cesar Azpilicueta in the box. On loan Liverpool player Borini scored the resulting penalty to hand his parent club the advantage in the title race over his former club Chelsea, and hand his present side Sunderland a relegation lifeline, with the Black Cats now just three points from safety.

Pope Prays For The Abandoned

Pope Francis has led Easter’s Way of the Cross procession in Rome, with prayers for the poor and the abandoned. The solemn ceremony marks Christians’ commemoration of Christ’s crucifixion on Good Friday. Tens of thousands of people lined the route near the 2,000-year-old Colosseum. The Pope heard the Vatican’s official preacher deliver a sermon denouncing greed and the love of money. The procession is part of the Church’s Easter triduum festival. Pope Francis urged the crowd to “remember all the abandoned people” and spoke of the “monstrosity of man” when he lets evil guide him. “Evil won’t have the last word, but love, mercy and pardon will” he added at the end of the Way of the Cross. The sermon, by Father Raniero Cantalamessa, spoke of the injustice of human trafficking and suffering caused by environmental damage. “Money is behind every evil in our society” the preacher declared. The procession route included 14 stages, known as Stations of the Cross, at which specially written meditations were recited. One meditation touched on the plight of child soldiers, while another recalled the deaths of migrants trying to reach more prosperous countries. Other meditations criticised overcrowding in prisons and the treatment of the elderly. Immigrants, prisoners, former drug addicts and elderly people were among those who helped carry a large cross between the different stations. Pope Francis has made caring for the poor a central theme of his pontificate so far, says the BBC’s David Willey in Rome. On Saturday night, Pope Francis will celebrate an Easter vigil Mass in St Peter’s Basilica. Easter services will then conclude on Sunday with a Mass celebrating Jesus’s resurrection. The Pope will deliver his twice-yearly “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world) message. On Thursday, the Pope washed the feet of 12 disabled people in Rome as part of the Maundy Thursday service commemorating Christ’s Last Supper. He broke with tradition by washing the feet of several women and a Muslim man in a ceremony traditionally restricted to men only.

In a statement issued in Lagos yesterday by its interim national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the truth of the matter is that governors of APC-controlled states were given the impression that the meeting had been called off, hence they did not attend.

PFA AWARD DOMINATED BY LFC

Half-a-dozen contenders for the individual accolade were announced on Friday, with the Reds boasting 50 per cent of the candidates for the honour which will be presented on Sunday, April 27. The skipper has been a driving force behind his team's surge to the summit of the Barclays Premier League, registering 13 goals from his deep midfield position and providing 10 assists. Ahead of him, Sturridge and Suarez have terrorised defences throughout the campaign; the pair top the division's scoring charts with 20 and 29 respectively, while the latter has created more goals for a teammate than any other player, with 12. Completing the shortlist are Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard, Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana and Yaya Toure of Manchester City. The ceremony will be held at the Grosvenor House in London. Suarez was named runner-up for the prize 12 months ago, behind former Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale, while Gerrard was the last Liverpool player to claim the award, at the end of the 2005-06 season. There are also two Reds representatives in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year honour, with Sturridge in dual contention for the title alongside Raheem Sterling, who has thrived under Brendan Rodgers in 2013-14. The six-man shortlist for the Young Player of the Year award also includes Everton midfielder Ross Barkley, the aforementioned Hazard, Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal and Saints defender Luke Shaw.

WHO IS THE NEW HIP HOP KING OF MONEY

Jay Z has been dethroned as the richest hip hop star in the world. And no one else but his friend and business mogul, Sean 'Diddy' Combs is now the Richest Man in hip hop.
According to the recent Forbes list, Diddy ranks No. 1 on this year’s Forbes Five, list of hip-hop’s wealthiest artists, with an estimated net worth of $580 million. The bulk of the Bad Boy Records founder’s wealth comes from non-musical ventures, namely his deal with Diageo ’s Ciroc. The agreement entitles him to eight-figure annual payouts and a nine-figure windfall if the brand is ever sold and Ciroc’s value has never been higher.
The No. 2 spot goes to Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, with a net worth of $475 million. He’s still rolling in cash from megadeals like his $204 million Rocawear sale in 2007 and his $150 million pact with Live Nation the following year.
Andre “Dr. Dre” Young ranks third with $350 million, thanks mostly to his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Bryan “Birdman” Williams owns the No. 4 spot, riding his Cash Money/Young Money empire to a fortune of $150 million and rounding off the list is Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson at $125 million; with the bulk of his fortune coming from heavy sales of his music, merchandise, video games and books in the wake of his smash debut Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and particularly from his payout for the sale of his stake in Vitamin Water parent Glacéau to Coca-Cola in 2007.
Guys what do you think of this new list? Hit us with your thoughts below.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday released the results of the 2014 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, five days after it was conducted with only 47 candidates scoring 250 and above. Registrar and Chief Executive of the Board, Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde who announced the release at the Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja disclosed that 2,494 results were withheld for further scrutiny while 36,164 others were invalid. Ojerinde, who said there was sharp decline in examination malpractice, revealed that a medical doctor was caught in Jigawa State for sitting for the examination for his wife. According to him, all the examination centres indicted for malpractice and extortion would be sanctioned by the Board after investigation. Further statistics by the JAMB Registrar, revealed that 990,179 candidates sat for the PPT while 25,325 candidates sat for DBT. According to Ojerinde, 995,901 applicants still preferred Universities as first choice institutions compared to Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, despite lesser admission carrying capacity for the universities. Colleges of Education had 20,558 interested applicants, followed by Polytechnics with 13,761 applicants and 32 for Innovative Enterprises. Ojerinde disclosed that 24 candidates who sat for the PPT scored 250 and above, 108,488 scored between 200 and 249; 315,401 scored 170-199; 115,456 scored 160-169; 122,157 scored 150-159, while 275,282 candidates scored below 150. For the DBT mode, 23 candidates scored 250 and above, 1,309 scored between 200 and 249, 6,678 scored 170-199; 3,808 scored 160-169; 2,830 scored 150-159 while 2,471 candidates scored below 150. Ojerinde who debunked speculations that candidates could get their results upgraded through the internet, cautioned the public to be wary of fraudsters. “Information reaching us in JAMB shows that some internet fraudsters are already telling candidates that their results could be upgraded in one form or the other. It is pure deceit,” he said. Ojerinde, who said “the examination was one of the most successfully conducted exercises ever by the Board”, added that over a dozen handsets and irregular answer sheets among others were found on candidates

T. B JOSHUA PREDICTED THE ABUJA BOMB BLAST

Nigeria and Africa's most popular seer, Prophet T.B Joshua, the man who sits at the helm of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, is at it again and this time, he has come out to claim that he actually prophesied about the terrible bomb blast that killed many Nigerians yesterday at a motor park in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja, Nigeria's capital.
The prophet who is known for making accurate predictions, is not happy that no one heeded his warnings about the blast so as to put preventive measures in place.
Prophet Joshua made this known today in a video that has become viral and he actually foretold of the devastating disaster, which he said he made at his church during one of its services on Sunday, November 10, 2013.
This is what he said:
Listen to me, my people in Nigeria. Once again, take note of this: Our security should be vigilant. I am seeing a very big strike - explosion. They should take care of Abuja - capital.
When I talk, you see me in a bad light. But I will keep talking. I don't need to say the state but I am saying it. This is what I am seeing happen in Abuja. They should pray.
Watch the video which is on his own Emmanuel TV, here and make up your mind.

KWANKWANSO EMBEZZLED MY MONEY- GEJ

Kwakwanso embezzled my campaign fund, Jonathan alleges 8 hours ago President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday took on Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso of Kano State, accusing him of embezzling the money his (President’s) campaign office provided to mobilise the state delegates for the 2011 presidential primary of the Peoples Democratic Party and the main election. He said the governor deliberately engaged in the act to make the state delegates angry and refuse to vote for him in the primary and during the presidential election. Jonathan said contrary to his claim, Kwakwanso did not vote for him in the 2011 presidential election. The President made the allegations at a PDP unity rally held in Kano to welcome a former governor of the state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, into the party. He was reacting to a media report that quoted the governor as saying that he regretted voting for him (the President) in the 2011 election because he had not brought any development to the state. The President recalled that when it was becoming obvious that he was going to win the presidential primary in 2011, Kwankwaso and the state delegates stormed out of the Eagles Square, Abuja venue of the election. He argued that if the governor had voted for him, he would have stayed back to rejoice with him alongside his colleagues from other PDP states. He said, “First, we read in some of the newspapers that the governor of Kano State, Kwankwaso said he regretted voting for me. “Let me tell my good people of Kano that Kwankwaso did not vote for me and the Vice President whether in the primary or the main election. “We accommodate a lot, we know so much but we talk less. Those of you from Kano in PDP, you knew what happened that when we entered that Eagles Square, by the time the counting got half way and when it was clear that I was to emerge as the candidate, Kwankwaso left the venue. “If Kwakwanso had voted for me, he would have stayed to celebrate with me with the other governors. “Even the little money that my campaign office provided for refreshment of the Kano delegates and for their transport, Kwakwanso refused to give to the delegates. “He did that so that the Kano delegates will be angry and they will not vote for me. “Even for the main election, the little money the campaign office sent to Kano State to facilitate the movement of people, Kwakwanso refused to give the money to anybody. How can Kwankwaso tell people that he voted for me?” He urged the people of the state to challenge the 44 local government chairmen in the state to account for the N255.342bn that they had collected from the Federation Account since June 2011, “Kano people should call all the 44 local government chairmen in the state and ask them what they have done in Kano State from June 2011 when we came into office till today that they have received N255.342bn. “This money is over one quarter trillion naira. This amount of money is the one local government chairmen and councillors are supposed to use, somebody take this money and is spending it. The President again commiserated with the families of those who lost loved ones during the Nyanya bomb explosion on Monday. He reassured them that the government would continue to do its best to make sure that peace was restored. Attempts to get comments from the Kano State Government proved abortive. A telephone call to the Director of Press and Public Relations to the state governor, Baba Dantiye, was picked and then switched off. A response to a text message sent by our correspondent was still being awaited as of the time of filing this report.

Parents told the BBC’s Hausa service that at least 200 girls had been abducted. The attackers are thought to be from the Islamist group, Boko Haram.
