The mistake our Forefathers made - Ifeoma Nduka

The history of Nigeria won't be complete if the mistakes our forefathers made are not corrected by our generation. This mistakes dates back as far the pre colonial era, towards the slave trade period when for the love of money and material things. Fathers sold their sons to slave traders, friends betrayed one another and tricked each other to slavery. This single act remains one of greatest mistake our forefathers made because all around the... world, people of black descent with European identities have continued to dominate. Imagine!!!
Towards the precolonial era's the our traditional institutions were deceived and lured towards their eventual colonisation with material enrichment, What a shame??

The failure of most of the civil wars that be clouded us leading to the death of our Spartan heroes can be attributed to sabotage as a result of love for material things, What a Pity!!!
The love of material things have also been evident in the string of bad leaders that have befallen us. Out of love for material things, we have given our votes to the best bidder not the best man for the job, we have left ethnicity be cloud our sense of reasoning, the Church and religion has become a deciding factor in who leads us, male chauvinism and feminism is now the order of the day. Quite Unfortunate!!

I am a science student and I know the theory of genetics. We can't continue living this life that has been handed over to us by our forefathers, it's not genetically in built in us to consider materials first before integrity.
The mistakes of our forefathers cannot be or live with us, let's make the change, let's make the difference.
HoW?
