PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN HOUSE COMMITTEE ON MEDIA AND PUBLICITY- Hon. Freedom Chimereze

The students’ Representative Council within the week held an emergency sitting presided by the Speaker of the 23rd Parliament, Rt. Hon. Nzube Nnamani. The emergency sitting was held to discuss pressing and important issues that bother the union and the students at large.

In the course of the parliamentary session, the House resolved to screen the Union Executive President’s appointees whom the House had earlier relieved of their duties. The appointees are hereby expected to appear for the screening with letters of apology to the House and failure to do so will result to the disqualification of the erring appointees.

The sitting had the Union Executive President in attendance as he presented a Bill for the reduction of food price to the House.

 In response to the bill, the House directed the. President Comr. Noble Eyisi to quit further moves to regulate the food price until the House adopts the bill for further reading and possibly approves of it.

The Speaker Rt. Hon. Nzube Nnamani also intimated the Honourable members on the successes so far with the preparation of the legislative week scheduled to hold from 13th – 15th May 2015.
