APC, APGA, PDP trade blames over fake election results sheets in Anambra

Three political parties in Anambra State, All Progressives Congress, APC; Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, are trading words over allegations of printing fake result sheets for the forthcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections. However, PDP and APC are accusing the ruling party, APGA, of having a hand in the fake result sheets.
State Chairman of PDP, Mr. Ejike Oguebego, told reporters in Awka: “Our party is a law abiding one that play politics with the ambit of the law.
“Our party cannot get involved in this act of illegality. It is only the political party in the state, which is about to go into extinction, that is desperate to win election. “Their party had tried to play fast by adopting President Goodluck Jonathan as its Presidential candidate; now we are hearing of fake result sheets.”
The two political parties alleged that cartons of result sheet booklets for the election have already been printed and smuggled into Anambra State from Asaba, Delta State, in a bid by some desperate politicians to share it to staff of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. They further alleged that the original result sheets would be exchanged with the fake sheets for the election, while the original sheet would be submitted to INEC  with falsified results.
Only APGA can do this— APC
Similarly, state Chairman of APC, Emeka Ibe, described the development as not only unfortunate but sad, adding that such antics could only come from APGA. He said: “Last time, a chieftain of APGA in Awka South Local Government Area was arrested with cartons of permanent voters card, PVC, which he ultimately wants to use during the election. “Now with the introduction of card readers, the party’s game plan has failed and now the allegations of fake result sheets being printed have come into the centre stage. We urge the law enforcement agencies and INEC to be alive to their responsibilities.”
They’re crying wolf—APGA
However, state Chairman of APGA, Chief Mike Kwentoh, told reporters that PDP and APC are merely crying wolf where there is none. He said: “Some people are afraid of losing election and they are now looking for reasons and those to blame for their failure. APGA is on ground and all these other parties are not in the picture. “People should not listen to rumour mongers, who are out to scuttle our democratic process. APGA, as a party, cannot condescend to illegality and to the level of printing result sheets because we do not need them.”
INEC reacts
INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Anambra, Mr. Frank Egbo, said: “This is a criminal offence. They should report the matter to police and get those perpetrators arrested; they should also show us the INEC staff involved. “As far as we are concerned, INEC is not aware of this and we are not involved in it at all. INEC is committed to free fair and non- violent elections in Anambra State.”
