Game of Thrones season 5 surprises will make people unhappy, George R.R. Martin says

Game of Thrones' upcoming fifth season will depart from George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire novels in a way that could upset fans, the author told Showbiz411 at the Writers Guild West Awards.
Spoiler warning: While this article doesn’t contain any specifics, it does speak to events that will transpire in Game of Thrones’ next season. If you want to go in with as little information as possible, know that there are potential spoilers ahead.

Speaking to the publication, the author had a bloody warning for fans of the novels.
"People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy," Martin said. "So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, co-creators of Game Of Thrones) are even bloodier than I am."
This won’t be the first time that Game of Thrones’ creators depart from the source material. Last season, for example, writers changed a sexual encounter between two characters. In the novel A Storm of Swords, the act was consensual. In the Game of Thrones episode, it was not.
The changes would not, however, be the first time the series got bloody.

Red Wedding, anyone?
Beyond the HBO show, whose next season will premiere April 12, Game of Thrones also continues to wend its way through the video game ecosystem.
