President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday honoured 100 persons with Nigeria
Centenary Awards. About 40 per cent of the awards were presented
posthumously.
Among the recipients of the awards are Olesegun Obasanjo, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
The families of late human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi and afrobeat king, Fela Anikulapo Kuti rejected the posthumous awards for both late Fawehinmi and Fela.
Some of those who received the awards today, however, had skipped the yesterday's international summit on security held in Abuja.
Both events were parts of the activities marking the Nigeria's centenary celebration.
