30 IS NOT THE NEW 20 BY MARTIN BECK NWORAH

As the days roll by,boys become men and girls become ladies. Changes occur and we begin to have a sense of responsibility. We begin to feel insulted or appreciated and inevitably;we begin the long journey to...

self discovery and death. I watched a TED talk and I continued to
watch it over and over again because of the impact it had on my life.
When you have plans for your life, you don't wait till you are a full
fledged adult to begin living your dreams;start now. 30 is not the new
20 simply tells us not to postpone the responsibility of being
responsible for ourselves till we leave our parents house. Its really
hard learning to take responsibility for ourselves and stand up to
life's challenges in our present world. The easiest thing for us to do
is to hide under the shadow of being young, inexperienced and future
leaders(not of Nigeria anyway) to mess up our golden opportunity of
becoming great. Mandela is dead and the world is shaking. When he was
fighting and investing in what he believed to be the truth, nobody
believed he would be a world leader today. Even if you asked him as a
young lawyer in the early 50s,he won't believe he will spend 27 years
in prison and later be honoured with more than 250 awards worldwide.
That is the spirit of a true investment;the spirit of delayed
gratification for the glorious future that we all believe in.
Many spend their 20s doing nothing and when you confront them, they'll
tell you there is still time. And the truth is that there is actually
time. But the sad reality is that this time will pass when you don not
know. Depending on the type of life you want to live, now is the best
time to invest in that person you want to become in the future. If you
want to be a musician, start now to learn music. If you want to be a
medical doctor, start now to cultivate the discipline needed for such
discipline. For everything that we want to become in life, now is the
best time to invest.
Have fun, enjoy your youthful days, party away, fail your exams and buy
your grades. But remember, there is a place called posterity. And when
you don't sacrifice the present and invest in it,you may be surprised
the hard blow it will deal you. As we work together unto greatness and
achieving our dreams,I will be waiting for when we shall get to the
Promised Land, there you will pass me a glass of water and thank God
for the gift of grace for the race.

  2. An article of inspiration, which unambiguously points out that 20 is the new 30.
