Growing up, I hear parents and adults advice younger ones to study
hard,get good grades,secure a well paying job,start a family,go to
church, train your kids and live a normal life(whatever that may mean). Does that not make sense to you? I mean, everyone needs assurance and security that...
the future is okay, isn't it?... LIES!!! If Christ the
Saviour settled for a normal life,he would've ended up as one of the
many carpenters in Nazareth. But he knew his calling;so he took the
"good" risk of announcing to the world that he is the Messiah. He
cured the sick and was a very controversial individual while on
earth;today,he has more than 3 billion followers all over the world.
Now let me ask you;if he decided to play by the rules and be normal,do
you think we would be referring to him as the saviour of mankind?
There are a thousand and one examples of people who took calculated
"good" risks and today, life rewarded them genuinely.
I talk about "good" risks because not every risk is worth taking. When
a young man decides to show his creativity in kidnapping and cheating
another,that's not a "good" risk,its calculated stupidity. So today,I
reach out to thousands of youths like me,who were brought up in the
light of having a normal job and normal life. The truth is that you
can never get anything and succeed today if all you have to offer the
world is "normal"(whatever that may mean). So get out of your comfort
zone, experiment all those ideas you have in your brain. Now is the
best time to fail;because when you make that same mistake at
thirty-something,you run the greater risk of being a failure for life.
Start now to take "good" risks that has something in common with the
future you're planning for yourself. As for me,I have taken,I'm taking
and I'll continue to stretch myself till I see how far I can go. T.S
Elliot made it very clear that only those who risk going too far can
realise how far they can go. So each time you feel comfortable and
want to fill your timeline and twitter handle with funny updates of
how stupid you've become, look at the bigger picture and realise
there's more to life. Take "good" risks;get out of your comfort zone.
Trust me,you won't die,and what you fear might not even happen...take
that step. And as I convince you to decide on taking "good" risks,I'll
be waiting for when we will get to the Promised Land, there you will
pass me a glass of water and thank God for the gift of grace for the
race.

ReplyDeleteOn ya va Beck.
Thanks for your words.
I so much love how you differentiated the good risks from the senseless and useless ones. Because many young pple take the road of less persistence and end up uselessly.
