ASUU POSTPONES MEETING OVER IYAYI'S DEATH

A former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof.
Festus Iyayi, died on Tuesday in a car crash on Lokoja-Abuja
Expressway.
Iyayi was returning from a meeting in one of the Northern ASUU
chapters when the accident occurred.
He was in company with some ASUU leaders and they were said to be
returning from Kano where they sought the views of members on ending
the four-month-old ASUU strike.
Daily Times could not confirm the total number of casualties in the crash.
However, his death has led to the postment of ASUU's executive
meeting, which was to have met Wednesday to decide whether they should
call of their four-month old strike.
More details later.

  17. Students die everyday, ASUU strike has done more damage to Nigeria students than any so-called ASUU exco. As a matter of fact, no body's death is worth putting the future of Nigeria students on the line. Late Dr. Festus Iyayi was at the fore-front for a better cause for this country, but I still believe the best we could do for him is to call off the strike soonest to forestall further occurrence of this ugly incidence. Some students are dead, some in jail, many are prostitutes, some pregnant, yet ASUU did not anything wrong with all these. All that concerns them is their pocket. We need to arise and stop these analogue scholars from ruining our future.

  18. It's official. ASUU/FG Meetings to resume January 15th. I think the lecturers still get paid cos if the FG had stopped d payment of salaries, the strike may have been called off. That's why they're in no hurry to return to classes.
