ASUU STRIKE HAS DISRUPTED OUR ACADEMIC CALENDER BUT ITS NOT A BONUS HOLIDAY TO STUDENTS - PRO-CHANCELLOR

The ASUU strike which started in July is still ongoing; lasting beyond
most persons imagination or anticipation. The immediate result of this is the disruption of the university's academic calender. There is also the issue of those who either did not complete or even take their exams. Unwary students may think that the...
strike period is a bonus
holiday period. It cannot be. A developing society such as ours
requires at all times the intervention of all stakeholders in the
eduction sector for the transformation of our society. The
stakeholders comprising lecturers, students, benefactors and parents
have all suffered from varying degrees of discomfort occasioned by the
lingering ASUU strike. We therefore appeal to all Unizik students to
please use this period wisely for example by going to libraries or
keeping themselves busy with academic and entrepreneurial skills
related to their fields of study as we pray for peaceful and early
resolution of the FG/ASUU agreement.

We also plead parents , benefactors nd stakeholders to use this medium
to appeal to the striking lecturers and Govt. to find a way in ending
this strike in the interest of our children in the universities who
constitute a critical mass of future academics, policy makers,
scientists, technocrats and leaders. A better and improved Nigeria can
only be achieved if we are all ready to make sacrifices. Indeed alot
is being done to improve services rendered by the university.
