universities as it releases some part of the over-stressed earned
allowances. This was learnt in an interactive forum held recently at
the Universities auditorium between the staff nd the Vice-Chancellor,
Prof. Boniface C.E Egboka.
According to Prof. Egboka, the Federal Government of Nigeria through
the secretary to the FG and the Minister of Education and Nigerian
Universities commission invited Vice-chancellors for a meeting at the
Eagles Square, Abuja with the purpose of briefing them on the progress
of deliberations between the academic and non-academic union leaders
of ASUU, SSANU, NAAT, NASU and the FGN.
He stated that the Federal Government has. paid 100billion out of the
500billion agreed for the renovation of hostels, libraries, lecture
halls, laboratories, theatre halls using 2007 procurement Act as a
guide. The FG has also approved N30billion on the earned allowances
which will be shard among 36 Federal Universities. The FGN said that
each University was advised to send report on how the money will be
spent.
He thanked all who contributed their quota to the to the growth and
development of the institution, he noted that the university is run in
a democratic dispensation where one has freedom of speech, but should
be mindful of boundaries.
The hydo-geologist said that a specialised environment made up of
intelligentsia which the country looks up to and politicking is a
moral duty but should b done with utmost care because of its impact.
According to him, ASUU is a recognised and legalised trade union body
while the universities are under the Federal Government. He tanked the
security forces for their efforts and the whole staffs for their
understanding and solidarity.
Hmm i smell resumption in oct... If u believe say *Cheers*

ReplyDeleteand property in Anambra State - Strategy for sustainable Economic
Development and Democracy' presents a unique opportunity for
Anambrarians to assess the performance of the Governor, Mr
Peter Obi in this vital area of governance.2. The unacceptable high
level of insecurity in Anambra state poses a real threat to
sustainable economic and political development in Anambra state
as investors and potential ones are fleeing the state in droves.
3. The matter has become so serious that even Anambrarians living
outside the state are now reluctant to visit their homes and those
living in the state are relocating to cities outside the state!
4. Mr Peter Obi, Governor of Anambra state collects between
N300 Million and N400 Million every month as security votes,
averaging more than N10 billion Naira since he came into office.
5. Can Mr Peter Obi explain to Anambrarians whether this huge
sum has been exclusively deployed for security of lives and
property in the state?
6. Can His Excellency explain the recent interception by the police
of the sum of N255 Million Naira in cash in an Anambra state
government vehicle on a Sunday in front of his private office in
Apapa, Lagos without insulting our intelligence?
7. The Governor had claimed that the money was withdrawn by
his in-law, a state government contractor, to buy cars for Anambra
state government! But if one may ask, is there any car dealer in
Nigeria that accepts cash for purchase of cars?
8. Was the N255 Million part of the usual monthly security votes
which by practice is taken by the Governor in cash?
9. Can the propaganda that the Anambra state House of Assembly
cleared the Governor stand up to scrutiny?, in any case , is the
Anambra House of Assembly a law enforcement agency?
10. Anambrarians had so much hope and trust that Mr Peter Obi
would be different with respect to the fleecing of the public
treasury.
Peter Obi has failed. The so called roads he claims he constructed are not even strong and already have pot holes but the ones done by Dr Chris Ngige still stands till date. He has been bragging about the improvement on Education in Anambra but I can't send my child to a school in Anambra State presently. The classrooms are leaking, the structures are almost collapsing etc. I'm rooting for Ifeanyi Uba or Dr. Chris Ngige to win as long as someone from APGA doesn't cos he would be under the control of Peter Obi.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think Gov. Obi. Did well in the security system of the state. There was no major security situation experienced during his dispensation.
ReplyDelete**CHEERS** Jare.

ReplyDeleteI was supposed to paste it on another link but I mistakenly put it here and for that, I'm sorry. I've always liked Peter Obi until recently when he stole the Security votes from Anambra Coffers running into billions. I took the liberty of bringing the post from Sahara Reporters......Here goes......The theme of the on-going ASA -USA Convention 'Securing lives
