Government, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has deliberated upon and
amended the 2013 budget of the executive arm of the SUG yesterday. In
the deliberation during the sitting, some parts of the budgets were
struck out for being unnecessary projects and due to imbalance and
inconsistency. some of the projects which were described as outrageous
and unnecessary includes ''project sensitization seminar'' with cost
of N670,000, ''public speaking club''of N170,000,''first ever
financial colloquium with cost of N804,000 and ''introduction of clean
and Green initiative'' of N150,000 and many others. On the approved
parts of the budget from different offices of the executive council,
it includes the '' illumination of the Garba square for students'
night classes'' with the total amount of N250,000, ''unizik radio fm
SUG programme'', with sum of N32,000, ''SUG week of N1.5m and others.
The budget as signed by the secretary-General Comr. Ugoo Ezekoma and
president, Comr. Hilary Ugwu which had a total of twenty million,six
hunderd and seventy-one thousand,eight hundred naira(20,671,800)) was
cut down to five million,fifty thousand, nine hunderd
naira(5,050900).
