THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LEGENDS (Pt 3) - Chijioke Onyekwere

 Filippo Inzaghi- Remember him? He was that player who(together with Raul)terrorized the defense of so many clubs. Nicknamed 'Pippo' by the footballing world, he went on to become one of the finest and greatest strikers to witness the game of football. He had the best of his footballing career at Juventus and Ac Milan, notching up a total of 57 goals in 120 appearances for Juventus between 1997 and 2001 and 73 goals in 202 appearances for Ac Milan between 2001 and 2012.He also represented his country Italy for 57 times scoring a total of 25 goals. A world cup winner(which is hard to come by)with Italy in 2006,a two time UEFA champions league winner with Ac Milan and three serie A titles,Inzaghi went on to conquer the world.

 

I Personally remember Inzaghi for his brace in the UEFA champions league 2010-11 group stage campaign against Real madrid. With Milan trailing by 1-0 to Real madrid, Inzaghi came of the bench in the second half and scored a brace to give Milan a 2-1 lead.He is one of the most prolific goalscorers of all time,fifth in Italy,with 313 goals scored in official matches.He is currently the fourth-highest goal scorer in European club competitions with 70 goals,behind only Raul,Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.He has 46 goals in 81 appearances in the UEFA champions league(8th highest),he is Milan's top international goal scorer in the club's history with 43 goals.He holds the record for most hat-tricks in the serie A with 10.

 

He is also the first player to score three champions league hat-tricks.Inzaghi is greatly remembered for his brace in Milan's 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the 2007 UEFA champions league final.Their is this saying among football fans that once Inzaghi is the striker,just give him the ball and the rest will be history.He may not have entertained us with any Skill,but he definitely mesmerized us with his outstanding goals,and we say thanks "Pippo" for the wonderful goals.
