Messi, Ronaldo and other champions league stars will undoubtedly establish themselves as one of the greatest legends to have ever graced the game, but for the mean time, we are taking a look at our forgotten football heroes.
1. Gonzalez Raúl:
He was top of the UEFA champions league scorers' chart before it was snatched from him 3 months ago by Lionel Messi. Born 27 June 1977,he plighted his trade in the UEFA Champions League under two different clubs-Real Madrid and schalke 04,scoring a total of 71 goals in 142 matches in the UCL. He scored 228 goals in 550 matches for Real between 1994- 2010.Then at Schalke 04,under two seasons, he scored 28 goals in 66 matches. Then for his country Spain, he scored 44 goals in 102 matches. He won 18 major titles under this two clubs. There is one slightly unsavory Raul story. He is so superstitious that he wore the same pair of under socks for every Real Madrid game he plays that he wore for his first match for them when he was 15 years old. Raul holds the distinction of having never received a red card during his professional career. A three time winner of the champions league with Real, the clubs leading scorer and with more than 100 matches in the champions league. Raul is forever etched into the hearts of his fans.
