There was a forum
formed by the presidents of Lodges in Ifite. The agenda for the meeting was to
address the issues of Nepa billing system. Before now so many have complained
about the outrageous amount that is billed the hostels located in Ifite. One person
that we spoke with, said that the hostel where he stays was billed 1.8 million
and they succeeded in raising seven hundred and fifty thousand naira and
paid it. But to the surprise of all in the hostel two weeks of reconnection ,
they (NEPA) returned and cut it off again.Some also complained that before the
strike that hindered academic activities for six months, they were owing three
hundred and fifty thousand naira but when they returned from the strike it has
escalated to eight hundred and fifty. Who used the light that brought about the
increment in the amount owed? Some also complained that Nepa most times
don’t cut the light of only those owing but cut it from the transformer which
will affect both those that have paid and that have not paid. They called on
the student union government to look into the matter and look for better way to
solve those problems.At they end of the meeting they resolved to go to the
office of the nepa to lay their complaints but when they got there today they
were access into the compound.
The
meeting which was held in ANGELES LODGE toward Yahoo junction had the president
of SUG, COMR. IBECHUKWU NONSO CICO, THE SPEAKER RT HON OKIGBO, THE CHIEF JUDGE
HON. JUSTICE MUONEME,the chairman on house committee on security HON. ODIBO
TEDDY, HON CHARLES. Also present was the SRC house majority leader HON DOMINIC
I'm thankful the meeting held. Some of the problems associated with this comes from the Landlords. Most Landlords after building hostels in Ifite don't make provisions for meters and the PHCN use this as a means to rip students off. I hope it's pursued to the very end. This problem can be solved if prepaid meters can be installed in all hostels. (Pay as you use)
ReplyDeleteNice step by SUG crew,still on Τ̲̣̣̥ђε̲̣̣̣̥ matter,ђã† I̶̲̥̅̊s̤̥̈̊ our hope on our trasformer(pioneer)that got spoilt somedays ago,that transformer I̶̲̥̅̊s̤̥̈̊ carrying heavy load which always gave us a power outage.pls SUG shld also ‘ t̶̲̥̅̊ợ̣̣̇̇̇ Τ̲̣̣̥ђε̲̣̣̣̥ problem of aforemention tranformer.
