SACK THREAT WILL FAIL - ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said the threat by
the Federal Government to sack university lecturers would not only
fail but also worsen the situation and "another long path to make the
strike linger more than necessary."
With the threat, ASUU said it was evident now that the Federal
government was not ready to implement any resolutions it reached with
the union.
"It is a pity if the federal government is not willing to perfect the
resolutions reached with union. This is why we find it difficult to
trust our leaders by their words. How can someone be threatening to
sack lecturers when universities are already short-staffed by almost
60,000. We are not in Military era. The Military tried it and failed.
This one will fail again." ASUU said.
More details later…

  5. Yes! Asuu is an independent trade union that comprises of members from state owned and federal government owned universities so you are the person that lacks intelligence. The mumu asking which people, did u just come back from russia? Are you not aware of the high unemployment rate in this country? Many are looking for any kind of job. If this fg's threat comes to pass u'll be amazed at the number of applicants.

  8. ASUU get ready for riot if u dare tamper wit school fees. Even FUTO hs increased it's acceptance fee frm 20,000 to 40,000. Wat a wonder and free supplementary form sold for 10,000. My advice to ASUU is for them to come back whenever n respect themselves without daring d powers of nigerian students. D aluta spirit is still high, anything contrary to this, every ASUU member ll get it hot bcos d riot ll nt only b in schools bt it ll also xtend to their homes, i rest my case... Aluta continua! Victoria acerta!

  9. Our education system is a mess compared to oda third world countries, our politicians knws dat, dats why none of dia wards sch in nigeria,a frnd of mine dat graduated from Eco recently told me dat he can't even read or interpret stock,we lack equipment dat will facilitate our knowledge, the problem we have is dat we don't have a constitution(apologies to whom it may concern) we need a constitution dat will provide dat any body serving in govt MUST have his or her ward schooling in nigeria, when we have such a law,our government will sit up

Industrial action(strike)is recognized by law as a tool for
workers to lay their grievances! D oda day just because he
had little stomach upset,he was treated in london(even
though it started dia)why can't they bring such equipment in
nigeria and stop boosting their economy. The minister of
edu wike said that fg has paid 100b for infrastural dev and
30b for accrued allowances Zikites if u really follow events
u knw dat there is no new demands, the fg claimed to have
paid 100b but its a big lie, this politicians are liars! The
    problem lies IN OUR CONSTITUTION
NB- ask a close lecturer of yours if FG have paid the proposed 130B

  15. Why this whole thing is so annoying is that we students dont wanna tell ourselves the truth! Our lecturers are also lazy and corrupt! Fg and politicians are more corrupt agreed! What has been happening to IGR, annual budget allocations, trustfunds etc? Accepted the system is bad but its fg, universities mananagement and lecturers that spoilt it! Asuu should stop making noise abeg. They just cant wait to get the money so dat they can award contracts to themselves. 13hours of meeting with the president and nothing to show for it but meetings upon meetings? Asuu na una sabi pass? Gej has done is best! Its only a foolish president that can make that kind if commitment and not fulfill it. It wasnt a secret meeting even the toddlers in this country know that gej had a long meeting with asuu. Now this is the highest authority. If anything goes wrong, it cant be blamed on the negotiators. Asuu has insulted the president directly an indirectly. My fellow nigerian students this particular strike has a political undertone. Most lecturers have realized it but are afraid to speak up!

  16. Asuu una case tire me. You asked you employer fo better working conditions, he promised to do something about it. You know many people are watching him, waiting for him to fail so that they can criticize him. Do you think he'll let that happen? He sat with you guys for a long time to hear ur cries and discuss the way forward. Thats the height of humility and respect. That action should have been reciprocated with immediate suspension then the talks will continue. You said u had to tell others what he offered. He patiently waited. Unfortunately, someone of great importance to your union died, you mourned him for seven days, and still delayed ur so called NEC meeting for a few days, he still waited patiently only for you to come back and indirectly call him a liar and a fool. He had been pushed to the wall. He's gonna fight back. Note that majority of your union members voted for immediate suspension. You people made a grave mistake because the top officials in your union didnt allow the the majority have their way. It proves that there's something fishy going on amongst you. If students are truly your priority, why have you wasted so much time from the 4th of november?

    1. Well spoken. I think ASUU has overdone this and they have lost public sympathy. I think the best thing for them to do is go back to the president and apologize to him better still they should call off the strike and after that present their new demands to him they can't be ordering the president like that, he is the commander-in-chief ! they doing that will show respect and as well erase the negative image they have created for themselves.

  17. I just want to help simplify thus whole thing for some lecturers that dont understand english e.g dr bassey of my dept. Its either you work and get paid or dont work, dont get paid and get fired? Which is it gonna be?
