FELLAINI COULD REGRET OLD TRAFFORD MOVE

Manchester United's new Belgian midfielder could end up regretting his
switch from Everton

When Sir Alex Ferguson was at the helm at Old Trafford and players got
a call from their agent saying United were interested in buying them,
I'm sure for most it was more of a duty than anything else.
New manager David Moyes had hardly instilled any confidence at the
club. Ferguson's act was always going to be a hard one to follow, but
Moyes and Ed Woodward's shrewd attempts at doing business in transfer
window went awry, showing that United no longer have the lure they
used to.
Marouane Fellaini however, eagerly answered Moyes' call and came
running. He hasn't made a bad start to life at United, but every time
I watch him in a United shirt, I wonder where he fits in and if he is
really a United player.
Sure, United are in the Champions League this season and they have a
shot at being there next season. In all likelihood, this season's
competition will end predictably, with United going out after being
convincingly beaten at the knockout stage.
If United don't finish in the top four – which, by the way, is a very
real prospect considering their competition - then Fellaini may well
be left regretting his move from Everton.
Fellaini just seemed a better fit at Everton as he is the sort of
player who is hard to add to an already established squad. To me, he
is more the sort of player who thrives when a team is built around him
- like at Everton. Fellaini is an attacking player and perhaps his
best role is currently occupied at Unuted. He knew his role at
Everton, but Fellaini, or Moyes for that matter, don't really seem to
know what his role is at Old Trafford.
If Fellaini moved to United for Champions League football, he is by no
means guaranteed it next season. Chelseaor Arsenalcould have been a
safer option for the big Belgian with both teams reportedly interested
in him at some point.
If the unthinkable happens, and Everton finish in the top four above
United – very unlikely, I know – then Fellaini, and Moyes for that
matter, will be left red-faced.
