branch, led by Prof. Ike Odimegwu of the depart. of philosophy/
lecturers of the university, stormed the aroma junction in the state
capital this morning as early as 7:00am with their protest materials,
appealing to the FG to resolve and implement the MOU signed by the two
parties in 2009.
ASUU/UNIZIK has this to say:
If this strike fails;
*School fees in federal universities will, most likely increase beyond
N200,000. Those of state universities can only be imagined.
*Over 80percent of Nigerians will not be able to afford university education.
*The rate of crime will increase to alarming proportion.
*Parents and guardians will be forced to borrow beyond their means to
educate their children and wards,
*Universities will continue to turn out "unemployable graduates"
*Are these what Nigerians want for themselves and their children?

ReplyDeleteI feel so honored to be the first to comment. All
ReplyDeleteof my hardwork and dedication has paid off.
Getting the top comment has been a dream of
mine for many years, and i would like to thank
those who have helped me along the way. First
and foremost i would like to thank god for
giving me this opportunity. Next i would like to
thank my parents. I want to thank my cat Belle,
for being really fat and always there for me. I
would also like to thank my pet tadpole for
surviving against all odds for over a week. Next
i would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my
backyard for climbing trees because that gives
me inspiration that i need to get through the day.
This is a special moment in my life and i would
like to thank any of my unmentioned friends
and family that have helped me along the way.
This moment will be a moment that i will never
forget. I just remmembered a few other people i
would like to thank; facebook, the fish i caught
in the third grade, my light in my room bc i
wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it,
the internet for letting me go on facebook, my
house because without it i would be homeless,
and last but not least i would like to thank all the
people out there that actually took time out of
their day to read this. I cannot stress how much
of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to
be the first comment on a post for years, but that
has not been possible until this amazing day.
Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this
is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me
how i did this, i would say, you can achieve
anything u set your mind on. To all the kids out
there reading this, i would like to tell them to
follow their dreams. Being the top comment is
amazing, thank you everyone.

ReplyDeleteWat is wrong with this asuu ppl they shud call off this strike since federal govt has refused to honour their agreement.
ReplyDeleteASUU, wants we student to protest on their behalf that we shall not do for we know well that they are fight for their own pocket first, Where were ASUU, when the rot in the education started were they proactive to ensure the system improve steadily, Now after all these years ASUU want to perform magic that in a year all the shall be turned around. The present govt needs all hands on desk to move this Nation forward, not people allowing themselves to be driven by greed and politics

ReplyDeleteThe body that needs to protest at this point is NANS but they are quiet. Sometimes i tend to believe GEJ when he says the strike is politically motivated. NANS should make the feelings of the students known but they remain mute.
