UPDATE: Mozambique has apparently slaughtered its last remaining rhinoceros

Mozambique has apparently slaughtered its last remaining rhinoceros
for the Asian trade in the animal's powdered horn, a leading wildlife
expert said. That leaves the impoverished southern African nation the
dubious distinction of wiping out the species twice, as rhinos were
rehabilitated there several years ago after big game hunters killed
them off the first time. Park rangers are apparently widely
collaborating with poachers, who pay them an average of about $80, a
month's salary. One game expert in Mozambique said the last of the
country's elephants will soon be lost to poachers as well in the same
way.
