OFFICIAL.......TIME TABLE IS OUT

A certain book once said that there is time for everything, time to plant and to harvest, to take in and to take out. I think we have arrived at such time when you are expected to take out all that you have been fed.

The time we speak of is the time to be tested for all that we have been taught this semester.
One can only be called a winner after he has been tested but without it no one can be designated a winner.

Obama was declared a winner when he ran against Joe Mc cain, Bill Gate is celebrated world wide today because he dedicated himself to the discovery of easier way of communicating.

The time table is out and we are expected to prove ourselves again.

ESSENCE: IS IT FOR GENDER EQUALITY ???

The Church of England has voted to allow women priests to be ordained as bishops, overturning centuries of tradition in a church that has been deeply divided over the issue.

After almost five hours of debate, the General Synod, the governing body of the Church of England, approved on Monday the proposal to allow women to take up senior roles in the Church.

Ahead of the vote, Justin Welby, spiritual leader of the world’s 80 million Anglicans, said the general public would find it “almost incomprehensible” should the General Synod fail to support the move.

Al Jazeera’s Emma Hayward, reporting from York, described the scene outside the meeting, as “jubilant” following the vote.

Jody Stowell, a woman priest from North London, said supporters had low expectations that the proposal would be approved.

“I think we went through the stages of shock, through amazement to joy, which you are seeing here now,” Stowell told Al Jazeera. “When it happened it was just amazing.”

NYAKO DESCRIBES THE PANEL AS ILLEGAL

As the people await the verdict of the panel investigating the Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, and his Deputy Bala Ngilari, an aide to Nyako has justified his principal decision to shun the panel.

Ahmed Lawal, the Principal Special Assistant to Nyako on MDGs, described the panel as illegal, saying honouring the invitation amounted to supporting illegality.

Lawal, in an interview with The PUNCH, said, “If the governor and his deputy attended the panel, it shows they have agreed with the panel. So, the entire issue is illegal, and what do you expect them to go there to do?

“If there is legality in setting up the panel, I believe the governor and his deputy will go to the panel. If you look at the invitation that was sent to the governor and his deputy, the panel gave the address of the venue for the sitting as Army Barracks Road, Gibson Jalo Street, the next day, the panel (members)said they were sitting at the Federal Secretariat, Yola. That shows even the panel does not know what it is doing.”

On what he expected from the panel report, Lawal said, “I don’t expect any good thing from the panel, because its formation was illegal, unless we are going to show the whole world that Nigeria is a lawless country.”

He noted that the people were expecting them to do justice to the allegations raised against Nyako and Ngilari, maintaining that the people of Adamawa and the entire world were watching the panel.

“You cannot sit down in your room and write a report without hearing from both parties, if you are going to be fair in your judgment,” he added.

LIFE INVOLVES RISKS

Memorise:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
James 4:14

Read: James 4:13-16

13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
Message

When God calls you, it sometimes might appear like a demotion. This was my experience. When God called me into full-time ministry, I struggled with it because I had experienced poverty from childhood which I thought I had finally been delivered from when I became a university lecturer. I received the call of God when the church was in a humble state financially. I recall the day a young man gave me a 50 kobo note; I received it and blessed him. I told him I would spend the money on myself so that my heartfelt blessing will have an impact on him. That night, I thought over it and wept. I ruminated on how I went from being the Head of the Mathematics Department of a University to being a full-timer who receives a 50 kobo gift. God is the one that specialises in taking a man from down below and lifts him up. Those who see how far the Lord has taken me and are unhappy about it have need of God’s mercy. Is God calling you into full-time ministry? Is the Lord asking for more of your involvement in the things of His Kingdom at the expense of personal and family plans? Fear not! He is a better planner than you and what He has in store for His faithful ones will definitely beat your imagination.

Life is full of risks and virtually everything we do in life involves one form of risk or the other, however, God’s call is a risk of life worth taking. Marriage involves risk because some people get married to spouses who fast-track their death. Staying single also is risky because the inability to perpetually remain chaste may make the fellow end up in hell. Staying hungry has its risks while eating food also involves risk. Some people who were not sick died while eating or while trying to swallow food. If you are asked to come and work with the richest man in the world who also has a reputation of uncommon generosity, many would jump without even asking God about it. Yet, even that involves a measure of risk. Some may take up that job and trigger their worst nightmares. When God calls you, there is an element of risk involved but it is the safest, surest and best risk you can ever take. If He calls you into full-time ministry, it means He is ready to take you up as His pet project.

Key Point:
Placing your life and total cares in God’s hands is a risk worth taking.

WE STILL REMAIN ONE FAMILY, ONE UNION, ONE LOVE AND ONE GIANT

On behalf of the Union I wish to commend all key players in our struggle to build a strong students' unionism in campus. Based on the principle of ubis jus ibi remedium we are set to build a stronger union.

Through out this period of crisis, God have been so faithful to us and I believed that events of the past days opened our eyes to things we know and things we don't know, the struggle was not in vain. Many of us abandoned our comfort for the love of Zikites, we made a point and at last we all remain strong.

I want to use this opportunity to commend my leader and humble President His Excellency Comrade Ibe Chukwunonso Michael Cico our dear SUG President, for his unalloyed support for peace and conflict resolution, he actually fought like a leader and know when to apply the brake. In the face of the crisis he still remain focus. My dear President, I thank you so much for being a leader with a large heart, I will commend you for your positive response to correct all wrongs in the union so as to build a better union for our future Students leaders.

Cico you are my brother and a friend and I will keep loving you as a brother Mr President.

May I also commend my brother and the leader of the Students Parliament of our institution known as the Students' Representative Council (SRC), Rt Hon Chekwube Okigbo. A man whose YES is his YES and his NO remains his NO. So far, I see him as a leader who knows how to manage crisis with strict principle, I'm happy that finally for the love of Zikites we did the best.

I will not forget so soon the great radical leaders of the parliament (SRC) for acceding and honouring the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) which Students Judicial Council set up to manage the cracks in the union. Your positive responds and various roles see that all we laboured for were not in vain. I have never seen a radicalised parliament like this. I think Unizik Students' Parliament remain a litmus test for Nigerian parliament.

Furthermore may I also commend the Students' Judicial Council (SJC) of our great institution more especially the Council of Judges for heeding to my plea and warning to remain apolitical through out this period of higi haga in the union. It simply showed the world that judges maintain the decorum in the face of crisis.

Ipso facto it will be very hard for me to conclude without saying a very big thank you and appreciation to our lovey father and dad, the best reigning new wise Vice Chancellor in Nigeria Prof. Joseph Eberendu Ahaneku, for believing in me and also giving me the mandate and opportunity to handle the situation in the union. Daddy the decorum and response you have shown to we your children simply shows that with time Unizik the Ivory of Tower will turn to be the best Students friendly university in Africa. Thank you so much Mr. Vice Chancellor. The Union will always give you support for the interest of students.

Moreover, I express my appreciation to members of the Governing Council of our university most especially Dr Aribodo for the brotherly role he played to make sure that we achieved peace. His experience as Former SUG President and speaker contributed a lot.

Also, Dr Godson Okafor (Director infrastructure) remains the best to the university community.

I also thank The Personal Assistant to our dear Vice Chancellor, Sir Markutus for his nice initiatives as a former union leader to find a way out.

Furthermore, I thank our spiritual director and parents, most especially my mum for their advice and prayers.

Also, a big thanks to my friends and colleagues in the Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel, more especially my brother and very good close supportive friend Hon Comrade Umeorah Christian Chidiebube. The love I have for you as a brother is 101%. In the face of crisis and confusion, you are always on my side to help me to subtle the storm, your role and advice in the face of stigma, crisis, gossips and cheap blackmail to my person and office in the union remain indelible to me.

Also, Comrade Ezeogbuefi martins is not left out. He is a hidden green horn in my sojourn in the union, he knows the truth.

Another good companion is Paschal Onyejelam. His philosophical advice and support in the face of foolish gossips is another feather to the cap.

Also, Hon Chisolu Obumneke Okeke your sojourn as the Attorney General of the union always shine out the best in the union even in the face of crisis, in the face of our hide and seek game you made us proud.

Another great companion is Chinedu Frankie Skippo Nwogu. Thank you so much.

If I continue to roll out prominent figures that helped my office to achieve peace and good developments in our SUG, my pen will keep flowing till the last ink drops. But my greatest greeting goes to the students of our great citadel of learning. The greatest Zikites I'm proud of you all.

In conclusion I will like to state categorically that the problem in the union is an inherited problem, which this current administration inherited from the past but with time I promise all zikites that we shall correct all wrongs in the union, things shall be done in a proper way, transparent system shall be adopted. Before we leave office with our dear brother and leader His Excellency Comrade Ibe Chukwunonso Cico Micheal, we will leave a better union free from chains and open transparent system of governance.

For the love of UNIZIK we remain one family, one giant, one love and one union. Thank You.

Signed
I.A Muoneme (Dip-Law, FEYFN),
(Chief Judge SUG NAU Awka).

ANOTHER SUSPENSION FOR NIGERIA

A member of the Amputee Football Federation for Africa, Pius Asaba, on Thursday said that the World Amputee Football Federation has suspended Nigeria from participating in its activities.

Asaba told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the suspension was slammed because the country did not pay its annual affiliation fee since 2013.

He said that the sanction had denied the country’s national amputee football team from participating in the 2014 World Cup, scheduled to hold in Mexico from November 30 to December 10

This is a big blow to the country's football development being that it came at a time when Nigeria is going through another suspension given to the nation's football body(NFF) by the world football governing body FIFA.

ENYEAMA MAKES TOP KEEPERS IN WC

Super Eagles Goalkeeper,
Vincent Enyeama Ranks 4th
Best Goalkeeper In The World
By FIFA

The news comes has no surprise considering
Enyeama`s brilliant performance for the super
Eagles as the last man standing.
Goalkeeper Vincent has been able to make
several breathtaking safes during the 2014
world cup and as such FIFA deem it fit to rank
him number 4 in world ranking. Manuel Neuer
of Germany is however rank number 1 in the
world.
Congrats to Vincent.
Profile of other goalkeepers.
Another goalkeeper who arrived after a record-
breaking season at club level.
Enyeama carried on the form that made him
nigh-on unbeatable for Lille, pulling off a series
of extraordinary saves, starting in the first
match against Iran, when Nigeria dominated
but would have lost if the goalkeeper had not
kept enough concentration to tip away a
header from Reza Ghoochannejhad.
He then kept Bosnia-Herzegovina at bay before
thwarting Lionel Messi and Argentina for long
periods despite conceding three. When a
goalkeeper falls below perfection, however, he
can be punished severely and Enyeama’s
mishandling of a cross against France enabled
Paul Pogba to score the winning goal and
ruined another otherwise immaculate
performance.

Full List
1. Manuel Neuer, Germany
2. Guillermo Ochoa, Mexico
3. Keylor Navas, Costa Rica
4. Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria
5. Tim Howard, USA
6. Rais M’Bolhi, Algeria
7. Júlio César, Brazil
8. Thibaut Courtois, Belgium
9. David Ospina, Colombia
10. Tim Krul, Holland

The Vice Chancellor of this great institution Prof. Joseph Ahaneku has warned prospective candidates of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, not to patronise fraudsters. The Vice Chancellor who just made this known on his just concluded maiden public interactive programme at Unizik FM also stated that though the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), last week, during a joint policy meeting set 180 as minimum cutoff points for admissions into universities in 2014/2015 academic session, UNIZIK is yet to officially made a stand about it's 2014 Post UTME exercise but promised that an information may be released towards that in a week time. Prof. Ahaneku also said that the only official information platforms of the institution are the university website (www.unizik.edu.ng), UNIZIK FM and Print media.

Also, while promising that all 2014/2015 admissions shall be strictly based on merit, The Vice Chancellor disclosed that UNIZIK Regular Admissions quota has been increased to 6994.

UNIZIK SUG REPLIES CHUKWUEMERIE UDUCHUKWU, ANNOUNCES THE WITHDRAWAL OF NOMINATIONS OF THE UNION'S VICE PRESIDENT AND IT'S BLOG FROM THE 2014 SUG ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS

UNIZIK SUG REPLIES CHUKWUEMERIE UDUCHUKWU, ANNOUNCES THE WITHDRAWAL OF NOMINATIONS OF THE UNION'S VICE PRESIDENT AND IT'S BLOG FROM THE 2014 SUG ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS

*DOS (Chief Event Organiser) Nomination Retained*

Below are the statements released by the SUG of this great institution regarding the 'Open Advice' written by NAU Students' Facebook Page Editor Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu concerning the 2014 UNIZIK SUG Entertainment Awards
---------------------------------

Our attention has been drawn to an open letter that challenged the authenticity of the award and the nominees list, ordinarily we would have kept quiet to avoid exchanging words with people but this is a government that gives a listening ear to her people,so we have decided to address the issues once and for all.

This is the first and last statement we would release concerning this event and its nominees list or any other open letter...

We read some letters and for some reasons, few persons felt there are problems with the list, but from the letter, we noticed they were either mis-informed or naïve. Let me remind us again that this event is organised by the directorate of socials and welfare and not the office of the vice president or the student union. Nominating the SUG VP is an honour to her and she received the nomination with all humility, in due time, we would publish her achievements and leave the public to answer the question of if she really deserves the nomination. We also feel If she doesn't have a good personality, she wouldn't have emerged as the VP of this institution.

A nomination doesn't make you a winner and the same applies to the nomination of the union's blog (www.uniziksugnews.com), this is a site that informs me and you about the latest happenings in UNIZIK, so it deserves a nomination! It was established by Past Union's PRO Comrade Ezenwa Obiora and handed over to the incumbent PRO Comrade Clinton Nwobu who had to learn about blogging in other to serve you and I and also continue the good work of his predecessor Comrade Obiora. Being SUG official doesn't disqualify you from being nominated.

We also wish to inform the public that none of the nominees are in a competition as winners would be selected on merit by the committee set up by the DOS, without the interference of any official. If you got our broadcast earlier then you would know this.

As a giant, the right thing to do is to place a call to the DOS or write a letter to the office, Not an open letter as a lot of innocent people might be misinformed after reading your letter!

Just like I said earlier, this is a government that gives her electorate a listening ear, we were elected to serve you and tackle the problems of this school, we also wish to clear our name from any scandal and on this note we announce the withdrawal of the SUG Vice President Comrade Agulefo Queen from the category of Miss personality which would be replaced with Queen Shiella and Sandra.

We also withdraw the nomination of the SUG Blog from the award category of best blog which would be replaced with freshdealers.com

The VP Comrade Agulefo Queen shall receive an honorary award (Madiba students award female) along side Comrade Ezenwa Obiora, we also plead with the UNIZIK community to forward any complain to the office of the Directorate of Socials (DOS) and not through an open letter.

We also wish to announce the following new categories;

-Most sophisticated student
-O.A.P of the year
-Artiste of the year(students choice)
*
-Nollywood actor/actress of the year (students choice)

The winners of these categories would be decided by voting, who ever emerges as the winner should be present to receive the award.

Thanks much for your support and understanding,it shows you really support this government and her activities.

Aluta Continua Victoria Aceta!

PRAYER ATTRACTS AUTHORITY

Memorise:
For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Matthew 7:29

Read: Acts 4:23-31

23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Besides providing an avenue for you to report everything that threatens your peace and joy, prayer brings the fullness of the Spirit. We see this demonstrated in Acts 4:31:
“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”
The Holy Spirit is ever near those who call upon God in truth, while He is distant from those who call upon Him in pretence or who hardly pray. In James 4:8, we are enjoined to draw near to God. How? One way to do this is by praying. When you pray, you provoke the Holy Spirit to come closer to help you. If you fail to pray, you keep Him at bay. If you pray intensely and effectively enough, He will descend upon you and even those around you. In Acts 2:1-4, one hundred and twenty believers were together praying in the upper room when the Holy Spirit descended during the feast of Pentecost and they were all baptized with the Holy Spirit. In Acts 4:23-33, in the face of serious threats from the authorities, the church council members prayed and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. If you can pray, the Holy Spirit will come to fill the space within you and you will be full of the Spirit. You can be filled with the Holy Spirit as often as you require Him to fill you. If you are always full of the Spirit, you will be empowered to live the life of the Spirit.

Prayer also brings boldness to declare God’s Word. There is a link connecting these variables: prayer, the word and boldness. If you tarry in the place of prayer, when you declare the word, it will be done with authority. This was one feature that was commonly seen in the ministry of Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:28-29). How do you teach or preach today? If it is plastic, powerless and void of the backing of the Spirit, you are teaching like the scribes and not like Jesus. Prayer makes the difference in the ministry of the word. The one who preaches or teaches with conviction has obviously paid the price in the place of prayer. How prayerful are you? How impactful are you? If you are still shy to preach salvation to sinners, it is most likely you are not praying enough. Pray without ceasing from today!

Action Point:
Father, from today, let your words that I speak be backed up with your power.
