SUBSIDY SCAM: EFCC arrests Ifeanyi Ubah
Ifeanyi Ubah has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, EFCC, internet sources has gathered.
The Billionaire businessman, according to sources was arrested by a
team from the Commission, at his Maitama home in Abuja on Tuesday.
A close insider at the Agency had hinted that Mr. Ubah had snubbed
earlier invitations extended to him by the EFCC to willingly appear
for interrogation regarding his involvement in the multi-billion
dollars oil subsidy scam.
Internet sources learnt that he is currently undergoing interrogation
at the Abuja offices of the EFCC.
No fewer than 40 persons have been arraigned so far by the EFCC in
connection with the said scam.
It would be recalled that Ubah was a guest of the Nigeria Police at
the Special Fraud Unit,SFU, Milverton, Ikoyi, Lagos, for almost a
week.
Ubah, was granted bail in the evening of Friday, October 19, after
spending over a week at the SFU.

According to people close to Foluke, she and some family members have contacted their lawyer to sue Bukola for characterassassination. Bukola will soon appear in court to prove that Foluke indeed used diabolical means to obtain Kayode Salako.
Bukola told an Encomium reporter this week that she's not bothered about a lawsuit and is waiting to get the petition from Foluke's lawyers. UPDATE: Ezu River corpses ‘We’ve found out cause of death’
people whose corpses were found floating on the Ezu River on January
19, but that it is not in a hurry to reveal it.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Lawrence Ikeako, told Saturday
PUNCH on Thursday that the report of the autopsy carried out on the
corpses was ready and had been sent to the Senate and the police,
which were investigating the matter.
Ikeako said the government was very willing to make public the report
of the autopsy but it must get a clearance from the Senate and the
police before doing so.
He said the ball was now in the court of the police and other security
agencies to find out what killed the 20 young men.
"If the Senate says we should go ahead and release it, we will do so.
We have nothing to hide. We have found out what killed the people. It
is for the law enforcement agencies to find out who killed them," he
said.
But the police in Anambra State have declined commenting on the issue,
saying they were still investigating the incident, which attracted
global outrage.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Emeka
Chukwuemeka, told Saturday PUNCH that he was not aware that the
autopsy report had been submitted to the police.
But he said he would not be able to make further comments on the
matter because investigations were still on.
A leaked report said that the autopsy discovered that the corpses had
gunshot wounds on them. But some observers said the police and the
government were reluctant to push the matter because there were strong
indications that security agents could have been responsible for the
killings.
The Senate Committee on Police Affairs and National Security and
Intelligence had visited the scene twice and had conducted public
hearings on the incident. The Senate, since then, has not said
anything about the incident.
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra
claimed that nine of its members arrested late last year by security
agents were among the people whose corpses were dumped in the Ezu
River.
The police have denied MASSOB's claims, but had said investigations
would reveal the true identities of the corpses, what killed them and
where they were killed.
MAN SENTENCED TO 45 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR STEALING GOVERNOR AREGBESOLA’S N50,000 PHONE
Aregbesola, a 31-year-old Kelvin Ighodalo has been sentenced to
45-year imprisonment by an Osogbo High Court.
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on November 27,
2010, when the governor was being inaugurated at Government Technical
College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo guilty on
six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and fraud.
He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three counts
and five years for each of the last three which included
impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and collusion.
Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jail term, held that the
convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the Owa of Ilesa, Oba
Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained N200, 000 from Mr Shengen
Rahman, an associate of the governor.
The jail term, which Falola pronounced will run concurrently, means
that Ighodalo will spend the next 10 years behind bars.
Assistant principal state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora, told the court
that the convict had served six-year imprisonment in Ikoyi prison
custody in connection with a murder case in 2005.
Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to commit him
to community service, stressing that the convict should not be
incarcerated but rather be placed where people could see him as a
convict.

to keep them informed of the activities of his office and the SUG and
also give them a forum to interact with him on all issues that concern
students.....
It has Therefore been resolved and passed by the House,,..
Simply put there needs to be a forum to interact with the SUG
Leaders,,get information and question them,,they are accountable to
the students...This is the Forum.
This is not to undermine the office of the S.U.G. P.R.O. But
matter-of-factly, it is only Obvious That The Bulk Of this lies
within His Office as the P.R.O.

UPDATE: Governor Okorocha leaves UK hospital for Israel
receiving medical treatment for Israel, according to Sunday Punch.
Okorocha's Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Ebere Uzoukwa,
confirmed that the governor has left London, where he went for
treatment following the April 19th car accident on Orlu-Owerri Road,
in Imo State. A Mercedes Benz 200 ran into the governor's convoy and
had a collision with his own car. The governor sustained a minor cut
on his scalp. He is believed to be in Israel for a second round of
examination.
9 JAMB candidates die in car accident in Aba
There were 15 passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident, nine of them died instantly. The bus driver and conductor also lost their lives. The six remaining seriously injured passengers who survived the accident were immediately taken tothe hospital. The 15 JAMB candidates had been traveling from Port Harcourt to Aba to sit for the exam which took place yesterday. May they RIP

Nigerian Nobel Laureate; Wole Soyinka Wins Anisfield Award
Past winners include writers who went on to win Nobel prizes – Nadine Gordimer, the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Toni Morrison and Derek Walcott.
"The 2013 Anisfield-Wolf winners are exemplars who broaden our vision of race and diversity," said Henry Louis Gates, Jr., who chairs the jury. "This year, there is exceptional writing about the war in Iraq, slavery on a Kentucky pig farm, the Filipino experiencein the U.S., and the complexity of families in which a child is radically different from parents."
Gates directs the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African-American Research at Harvard University, where he is also the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor. He praised the singular achievement of Wole Soyinka, the Nigerian whose writing won a Nobel prize in 1986, three years after he won an Anisfield-Wolf award for his memoir, "Ake: The Years of Childhood."
Cleveland Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald B. Richard said this year's winners reflect founder Edith Anisfield Wolf's belief in the unifying power of the written word.
"The Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards rose from the philanthropic vision of one woman who realized that literature could advance the ongoing dialogue about race, culture, ethnicity, and our sharedhumanity,"

The actress has gone on to become a household name as she is the Current Face and Brand Ambassador of Harpic (Reckitt Benckiser) and also a Brand Ambassador of Globacom. The stunning actress is adding 'producer' to her already impressive resume as her first production would be premiering in a few days.
The movie titled 'On Bended Knees' is about a wife who has an affair with her boss and she (Chioma), plays the role of the wife. In reality, Chioma is a wife who is happilymarried with kids, and so we assume playing the role of awife would be somewhat natural to her. Congratulations to the beautiful actress.
