Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Anambra State, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from his home last Sunday has been released by his abductors. He was kidnapped while leaving his house for a church service.
He said that his release followed a two-day
intensive manhunt for the alleged kidnappers by security operatives, adding that the professor, who was hale and hearty, had since united with members of his family.
Sources reported that Prof. Okafor regained his freedom after his abductors were able to collect an undisclosed substantial ransom from his family.
